Part of 7th Brigade, 3rd Division. 8 October 1915 : transferred with Brigade to 25th Division. 26 October 1915 : transferred to 74th Brigade, 25th Division. 13 November 1917 : transferred to 108th Brigade, 36th (Ulster) Division, absorbing 7th Battalion. 8 February 1918 : transferred to 107th Brigade, 36th (Ulster) Division. 3rd (Reserve), 4th (Extra Reserve) and 5th (Extra Reserve) Battalions August 1914 : in Belfast, Newtownards and Downpatrick respectively. Remained in Ireland until April 1918, then moved to England. Territorial Force The Irish regiments did not form TF battalions. New Armies 6th (Service) Battalion Formed in Dublin, August 1914, as part of K1. Became part of 29th Brigade, 10th (Irish) Division. 5 May 1918 : disbanded in Egypt. 7th (Service) Battalion Formed in Belfast in September 1914, as part of K2. Became part of 48th Brigade, 16th (Irish) Division. 5 March 1915 : joined by one Company from the Royal Jersey Militia. 23 August 1917 : transferred to 49th Brigade, 16th (Irish) Division. 14 October 1917 : transferred to 108th Brigade, 36th (Ulster) Division. 14 November 1917 : absorbed by 2nd Bn. The 8th to 16th (Service) Bns were formed from the paramilitary Ulster Volunteer Force. 8th (Service) Battalion (East Belfast) Formed in Belfast in September 1914, from the Belfast Volunteers. Became part of 107th Brigade, 36th (Ulster) Division. 29 August 1917 : amalgamated with 9th Bn, to form 8/9th Bn. 7 February 1918 : disbanded in France. 9th (Service) Battalion (West Belfast) Formed in Belfast in September 1914, from the Belfast Volunteers. Became part of 107th Brigade, 36th (Ulster) Division. 29 August 1917 : amalgamated with 8th Bn, to form 8/9th Bn. 10th (Service) Battalion (South Belfast) Formed in Belfast in September 1914, from the Belfast Volunteers. Became part of 107th Brigade, 36th (Ulster) Division. 20 February 1918 : disbanded in France. 11th (Service) Battalion (South Antrim) Formed in County Antrim in September 1914, from the Antrim Volunteers. Became part of 107th Brigade, 36th (Ulster) Division. 16th (Service) Battalion (2nd County Down) (Pioneers) Formed in Lurgan in September 1914, from the Down Volunteers. January 1915 : became Pioneer Bn to 36th (Ulster) Division. 29 August 1917 : amalgamated with 11th Bn. 17th to 20th (Reserve) Battalions Formed in Newcastle (17th and 19th) and Holywood (18th and 20th) in March, April, October and November 1915 respectively. All remained in Ireland, in 15th (Ulster) Reserve Brigade, until April 1918 when the Brigade moved to England and all Bns were absorbed into 3rd Bn.
