Road trips were long in my past. Having children makes getting up and going kind of hard. They need to walk, they need to be changed, they need and need and need. So I stoped going on road trips a few years ago. Never really had a friend to go on one with. All my ex's were great big losers who would rather play video games then go explore. So here I am, in less than 12 hours I'll be on the road for 6-8 hours. Driving my Best friend to Pa to meet a guy she likes. To add to the excitement I get to take my kids! Henry should be fine, But the baby Gavin will need one of us in the backseat with him at some point this I know. I'll get home ready for bed and have two highly wired children who need to run off some excess energy. I will most likely have a Andrea Yates evening. Wanting to put my head on the pillow, and having two of the worlds best kids still want mommy time. These are the times I miss having a signifigant other. Someone who would let me sleep for an hour or so, and than switch shifts with me. I miss the idea of a free road trip, where I only have to worry about myself, what I need to pack, what I need to bring. I miss the simplicity of my youth I took it for granted so much, I never realized how hard being a parent would be. I would have to give up so much of myself for my children. So while I may have put the good ol' road trip on the back burner, I finally get to go on a fun one tomorrow with Erin. I will call my guy a few times to let him know I am still above ground, and of course still wishing I was with him, in his arms, hearing his humor. He told the best joke to a funeral director today. It was fantastic I won't try to ruin it on this form. It is so much better out of him. So road trip tomorrow, followed by Icecream on Thursday with my three favorite guys.
