Well that's what I get for being a good guy. I'm sick with the Flu and the Bull got out again today. My uncle said he had to go to a doctor's appointment so I got dressed and went out to get him back in. Doug showed up and we got him back in. Maybe if I had not been outside Frank would have not been in the road. Maybe Doug would have not driven up the road past my house. Maybe, maybe, maybe. I've always said Frank's going get hit by a car. Well, he did.
On the way back to the barn I saw my cat Frank out by the mailbox playing with a mouse. I thought to myself "I should go get him so he doesn't get run over" then I thought "nah, he's smart enough to stay out of the road. I put the quad away and headed up to the house. I saw my uncle drive by and wondered where's Frank? Then I heard him crying real loud under my car and I knew. He was hurt and hurt bad. I got down on my knees and called him. He pulled himself out from under the car and hobbled under the porch. I went over and got under the porch and pet his head softly. He looked at me crying and I knew it would not be long. He pulled himself tword me. I picked him up and comforted him in his last few minutes. I know down deep he loved me cause even in his last moments he pulled his broken body to be close to me and die in my arms.
I don't blame Doug, I don't blame Frank. I blame myself. I knew I should go get him and I didn't. I got Frank killed cause I didn't do what I knew I should. "Keep him safe" So I blame myself. He was a great mouser and he loved to be with Jody and me. He loved to be close to me. I know this cause he would stand on my feet when I was out in the yard with Anni. And he would climb on me and sit on my shoulder and purr. I had him less then 6 months but this was a cat I really liked. He stayed outside, he killed mice and he gave me love.
Frank, I will miss you.
