Broken hearts

Tonight some dear friends of mine went to sleep broken hearted.   They have been unable to concieve children, but finally found a young girl wiling to put her baby up for adoption.

Things had been going great until the ex-boyfriend showed up again.  The baby's mother had a restraining order agasint him six months ago.  Just the perfect guy to be a father, huh?

The mother had signed the papers authorizing the adoption, but the father, who isn't willing to marry the mother of his child, won't.  In fact, since my friends flew back for the birth of the child the baby's father has screened all the mother's phone calls.  Real sweet son-of-a-bitch,  huh?  He's brow-beaten the mother into thinking that him having the baby half the time, and her having the baby half the time is a perfectly normal, acceptable family relationship.  Forget the fact that it doesn't give the baby any kind of stability, or sense of place in the world. But no, the father  has to have his trophy baby.

If you aren't willing to provide a child with a stable home environment, do the fuckin' manly t hing and allow someone who can provide that to do it.

I'm broken hearted that I can't do a single damn thing to take away the hurt and pain my friends are feeling.

A sense of humor

Just to prove that God and the Universe have a sense of humor about things, right after I made my last blog, my Christmas tree lights began blinking in a new an frightening way they've never done before in all their 15 years.  We had to unplug the tree so there wouldn't be a fire or something.  :(

Fight the winter dark!

This time of year always bums me out.  It seems like January 1 or 2 hit, and all the bright lights that make December so bright and vibrant just snap out immediately.  But in this dark time of year, we need the lights to brighten things for us.

If you need a Christmas related reason, the 12 Days of Christmas actually run from Christmas to January 6, Epiphany, the day the Wise Men came and found the Christ child.  AT least keep your lights on that long to brighten things up and fight the dark.  It'll make you smile, I promise!  :D

The election

For everyone still wondering who to vote for--and there are some of you out there--please take the time to read this essay--it will only take a couple minutes of your time. http://www.ornery.org/essays/warwatch/2008-11-02-1.html
