I've never reposted stuff like this, cause I always wondered "How the hell do they know how many times its been reposted???"

The answer is .... They Don't!

I didn't know how to tell before, but I just finished a class on web page design, and I saw this and the question came up again. This time I knew what to look for. I was hopeing to find something in the code linking back to Make A Wish Foundation, but it's not there. It's just text, and there is absolutely no way for anyone to tell how many times this has been reposted.
I know I could design something that I could tell how many times it has been viewed, and discount when it has been viewed from the same computer multiple times. This doesn't do anything like that.
I did a Google search on Matt Dawson and found this on Snopes.com Rumor Has It

I have always felt a little guilty for not reposting things like this, cause I thought it just might be possible, but I had no way of knowing. Now I know there is no reason to feel guilty about it, and it's kind of a relief... and that will last about as long as the guilt lasted...30 seconds? lol
