Some of you already know this, but I've been cast as the voice of a creepy and vulgar ventriloquists' dummy (no puns please) in an upcoming movie called "11 Colonels ATTACK!".
I'm not bragging. One of my close friends is the writer and one of the producers so nepotism happens, I guess.
I've had the role for over a year now (through many rewrites and changes) but it's getting very close to "showtime" now. In 2 weeks, the producers, financers and the whole cast (including some known actors from L.A.) will be in town for full-blown rehearsals. With behind-the-scenes documentary crew and the whole nine. The real deal.
And so I am getting a little anxious/nervous. Not because of the fact that it's becoming more of a reality but because of how much of a stretch it is for me to get into this character.
For example, imagine having to say the following line (yes, an actual line from the script) in the voice of a greasy puppet:
"It's like a car crash in there. A car crash with hot loads shooting all over the place!!"
And, trust me, it's just as weird in context. ;)
Anyway, do you see my plight? I am not a professional actor so the thought of becoming one of the creepiest, greasiest, and weirdest characters I've ever seen is becoming a bit daunting.
I can pull it off, I suppose. I'll just make sure not to become a method actor. ;p
