StrivingTDS's blog: "Really, It Wasn't Me. And I can prove it"

About 2 months ago. I applied at the local police station for a permit to purchase a hand gun. After submitting the paperwork and waiting a week, I got a letter in the mail and got my “card’ saying I was good to go. I went to the local gun shop to pick up a nice  45.  After filling out the paperwork , the clerk picked up the phone and dialed the NICS/FBI. After being on the phone for 10 minutes. He came back and said. You have been wait listed, random 20% of the population get it..  no big deal and to  call back in 5 days…

                5 days later I call in and am told I was DENIED. And that all I get is a yes or no answer, along with the humiliation of being looked at as a criminal  and a denial number.  The appeal process, for this is to fill out a form, get finger printed, and send them to the NICS in Clarksburg. Now remember I had done this 10 years ago, and I kept everything.  I filled out the form attached scanned copies of my prints and the letter  I got 10 years ago and e-mailed it off.  Expecting to wait the 170 days currently listed as the wait time. Well the following Saturday I got  al letter from the NICS/FBI that again I was not the person indicated in the original search. And that I was clear to make a onetime purchase of a hand gun, or as many as I wanted. But any additional purchase would require another appeal..  Imagine the surprise when I walked in to the gun shop. And presented my paperwork a mere   5 days after I was denied.  My response to the question of why so fast of a turnaround for me.  I am Not a Criminal, I am a Victim.

                My story is far from over, this past week I sent 4 e-mails out..  Senator Al Franken ( MN) , Senator Amy Klobuchar (MN), Congressman Eric Paulson ( MN) and to the local news station, that had done an on camera Interview with me in 2002.

So far I have talked to Senator Frankens Office, small glimmer of hope that they will look in to it..

 A letter from Sentaor Klobuchar’s office, basically telling me they cant get involved. And to hire a lawyer if I want to pursue legal action…

Will be meeting with the local news next week.  It’s an election year,  was it really a good idea to give me the brush off..   don’t think so …
