As little girls, you have set in your minds how you want your life to play out. From your wedding day, to your job, to the number of kids you'll have. You have it all planned out. You may even have the kind of house you are going to live in and your car in your mind.In your fantasy.
As you grow up, some of us hold on to these fantaises, expecting them to happen in your life, reality. What you fail to realize is when you fantasized about your life, you didnt factor in the negatives. You didnt factor in that he might cheat on you or that she may stab you in the back. Or that you may have to take a year off from college to work or that your parent might pass away. All of these things happen and the first thing we say is" This is not what I invsioned for myself". Honestly, who would include in their vison the bad things that life can dish out to you? But we have to be realistic and learn how to seperate the fantasy and the reality in our lives.
Reality is bills have to be paid, kids gotta eat and the tuition has to be paid in full. Reality is that you accidentally got pregnant and now you have to take care of you and yours.Its also that he may not be there with/for you when you need him and you have to do it on your own. You might have to pay rent instead of mortgage bc you spent all that $$ on designer clothes...also part of your fanatasy.Reality is, clothes are cheaper when your parents are buying them!!
Fantasy is that you will NEVER get cheated on. That he will Never leave you. That you will get pregnant only when you WANT to. That people are just gonna GIVE you money for school and never ask for a penny back. That that dream wedding will only costs the exact amount you have to spend!! Fantasy is that you will never encounter any setbacks, hurt, pain, regret, remorse,losts,or unforseen problems.
The truth of the matter is there is nothing wrong with dreaming because once you dream something, that gives a vision of what could be. But you must also be honest with yourself and know that somethings look good in black and white but are not going to work in living color. You have to be able to except that not EVERYTHING is going to happen how, when, and where you want it. Life is a journey and if it was meant to be a easy then there would be no strong men and women . I love being strong and I know that if I was just giving things instead of having to work for them, I wouldn't appreciate them. So, no this is not the particular life I had in mind for myself but I have not lost sight of the fantasy I dreamed of 24 years ago. It may not all come true, but my fantasy helps me reach and if its unattainable due to circumstances, I have no problem accepting it for what it is: a Fantasy!!
There's nothing wrong with dreaming but dont let your dream world destroy your real world!!
