My job
It sucks.......... its a secondary job and I cant stand it anymore. I could tolerate the no shows, the lazy asses the bad attitudes, the grumpy customers and the overall low end aspect of the job (working at a gas station).
but now this whole switching over gas companies thing is really getting to me, and like a slap in the face I get a letter in the mail saying im eligible for a 401k plan. I know most of you wouldnt see that as a slap in the face but a reward.
I however look at it differently. The decision to switch gas companies in itself isnt a bad one I can tolerate some confusion and change over to a new system, its like starting a new job all over again. On the other hand all the subsidiary decisions, most of which were made to save money, 98 % of them have been very BAD decisions. The results of which have scared away the sales they oh so wanted to hold onto in the first place.
I've put in 6 good years to this place and although I leave in the summer for my primary job, Ive been very loyal and come back every fall. When Im working there I dont just do the basic job recquirements but go above and beyond whats needed, the extra cleaning, lot maintainance, any general maintainance I can handle within my knowledge base, whatever extra I can do within reason I do. My immediate boss praises me left and right and Im thankful for that, but she is getting shit on with these corperate decisions as much as I am.
The bottom line bad decisions have been:
1 staying open during the remodelling which could have been done in a week had we been closed. (the remodelling took a month and a half)
2 Keeping the newwer system from mobil and manually integrating it with the older system thats new to us (cenex). (speaks for itself)
3 Neither system is compatible with the other and the cenex system was not fully installed properly nor did anyone have training on it from people experienced with it. (causing mass chaos, pumps locking up, computers shutting down randomly, and learning the system an over all BITCH)
Every one of those decisions has been horrible and made some very unhappy people, including myself. And from this company in the mail today I get an invitation to partake in the 401k program. How can I trust them not to fuck that up? I'm sooooooooooo frustrated you all have some idea now but I just snapped on my parents cuz they tried telling me about the 401k program and tried to help me out. Then of course they snapped back and it got a lil ugly. We've apologized to each other since but I'm locking myself in my room for fear of snapping on them again, I love them I dont WANT to snap on them. So right now the 401k plan is a slap in the face...... I would much prefer a THANK YOU from them, and a sizable christmas bonus, but given their past decisions to save money i can pretty much rule that one out.
So ultimately Im crabby and probably wont leave but I needed to vent in a semi positive manner. Quite honestly right now watching www.2girls1cup.com is more pleasurable than hearing or seeing my own company name. Anyone who knows what that site is about knows EXACTLY how i feel now.
