doctors and hospitals

Well let's see, last night I called my Dr. and he tells me go straight to the ER. I get there and they do all these tests including a ct, full blood workup, and ekg, and something else that I don't even remember. After it is all said and done they tel me that there is nothing wrong but they need me to go on antibiotics anyway. Is it just me or do you guys also feel like they are trying to milk anybody who has insurance? Forget the money the whole pain about the tests. I mean really...Whatever

just something cute

Lovers of the English language might enjoy this......How do non-natives ever learn all the nuances of English??? There is a two-letter word that perhaps has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that word is "UP." It's easy to understand UP , meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP ? At a meeting, why does a topic come UP ? Why do we speak UP and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report? We call UP our friends and we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver, we warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. We lock UP the house and some guys fix UP the old car. At other times the little word has real special meaning. People stir up trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses. To be dressed is one thing but to be dressed UP is special. And this up is confusing: A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP . We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night. We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP ! To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of UP , look the word UP in the dictionary. In a desk-sized dictionary, it takes UP almost 1/4 of the page and can add UP to about thirty definitions If you are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don't give UP , you may wind UP with a hundred or more. When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP .. When the sun comes out we say it is clearing UP . When it rains, it wets UP the earth. When it doesn't rain for awhile, things dry UP . One could go on & on, but I'll wrap it UP , for now my time is UP , so .... Time to shut UP .....! Oh...one more thing:! What is the first thing you do in the morning & the last thing you do at night? U P

just goin nuts

`well, sorry about not writing more often, in any event, I dunno what's wrong with me. Sleep every night and still wake up tired. Seem to be getting old and don't like it. Wife bugging me to go to the Dr. and get checked out. Even though I was a paramedic I HATE going to the Dr. Hate getting needles put into me. all the tests and the pokes and the prods. Stomach still out and about but that could also be my wifes cooking.. LOL. Dr. says I need to go away by myself without the wife and child. Just to relax. Been so long I wouldn't know how to do that anymore. All that we ever do is fight anyway. then we make up but the bent feelings are still there. Somehow sorry doesn't seem to cut it anymore. and yes it is my fault (at least part of the time) that we argue. then she argues that she needs to be out of the house and talk to adults instead of just being home all the time, So I say get a job and be with other people. then she says that she hates the jub and just wants to be home with some peace and quiet. I can't win. hell we don't even seem to be able to compromise. as such we always seem to be in a bad mood. at this point the words of my old D.I. come to mind........ Awww Fuck It. And that pretty much sums up my last few weeks. So how have ya'll been LOL?

our troops

I'll make this short and sweet, I passed a couple of our troops that were here in the NYC area on leave. When I passed them I heard a group of ignorant teenagers start calling them baby killers and rapists. Now obviously this just pissed me off to hell and back. If it was me I would have beat the crap out of them but I stood and watched to see how our troops would handle it. First and foremost I have to say that they really kept their cool (and yes I was more than just a little impressed by this) Thy then asked this group of kids why on earth would they call them that, the kids just kept silent (probably having thought that they would be ignored) and not a little surprised. I honestly don't think that they new how to respond. Now let me tell you, each one of these guys had their decorations and what not. They were all paratroopers, so you know that they were aggressive when the situation called for it. But when it did not they weren't. They showed amazing restraint in my opinion (better than I would have). Obviously a credit to our nation. Now getting back to these kids, IMHO I feel that the reason that they acted this way was due to a lack of respect for our troops but even more importantly for themselves. I really do not care what your opinion is about the president or the war or any such thing. These guys and girls fathers and mothers sons and daughters are over there risking their lives for us, they are guarding our rights and freedoms. If for nothing else respect them for that and don't dare say anything that is derogatory about them and certanly not to them. It's just a crying shame that kids are not taught to respect other people. If you disagree with me that is your right. Just remember who is making sure that you have that right....

Back from the hospital

Well lets see, went into the ER about 04:30 on sunday morning with a fever of 104.3 a throught infection, as well as a few other things. Dr. said that it was sue to dehydration which is what everything stemed from. Of course me being the nut that I am I still showed up for work today.

kids and medication

I have to say that I am disgusted with the school systems. My son has something that used to be called ants in his pants. always gotta be doing something. well here is the deal, we took him (at the order of the school system) to a Dr. and he promptly diagnosed the issue as being ADD. that having been said they told us to put him on concerta, which is a ritalin type of medication. Here in lays the problem in that it made him into a zombie, I mean sure the teachers had a nice calm classroom but my kid might as well have been asleep. Now we moved him into a school that is geared for High IQ kids and a fast pased learning. He is doing great. to top it all off they have gym twice a day, and I mean a structured gym where they have to play team sports and leagues and such. Only two stipulations, he cannot be on any kind of medications, and he cannot have access to the internet. If he needs to do research on the computer then they have all the encyclopedias on dvd's over the internal network. Computer games are allowed within reason and the like. Well we took him off all the meds and stopped his internet access, and let me tell you that was at least 3 months of hell with the adjustment period and all and now he is in this new school and they don't have any problems. This country has become to used to the quick fix and the like. Teachers have become lazy or overworked with the sixe of the classrooms growing as they are. I mean when I was growing up we had 26 kids in a classroom and one teacher. and we all got an education. Today, you have approx. 22 kids in a classroom a teacher and a teachers assistant. Dunno, but as a parent I have to tell you that this does not bode well. now i get a call from the system telling me that tehy need to have him evaluated for next year to see what meds he needs to be on. This is nuts the kid is off all the meds and doing well to boot. Any thoughts or ideas?
I think that we all need a place to blow off steam at this point. You can pretty much put in anything. As for me, I take issue with people who say how wonderfull socialized medecine is. Dunno, Lived overseas where that was the norm, and it was a disaster. you wait for 3-4 months for a Doctors appoit. and not because the Dr. is seeing less patients but because there are only so many hours in the day to squeeze everyone in. This leeds to substandard care (cause the Dr. is rushed) and to mistakes being made.
