When I worked for ConocoPhillips, I took a lot of management training, EEOC, sensitivity training, that kind of thing. One time we were told by an instructor that every joke has a butt, a scapegoat, an so we were not to tell ANY jokes while on company business. Well, you know me, I had to walk right up him at lunch and tell him a crude joke. :)
If there is one thing on earth that will suck the fun out of life, kill all art, smother all spiritualism, it's political correctness. PC no longer means. being sensitive to people's individual differences; It has become an excuse for fanatics to force their thoughts and beliefs on others. Santa Clauses in Australia can't say "Ho ho ho", a guy in Sudan gets thrown in jail for naming a teddy bear Mohamed, it's fluckin nuts! To me it boils down to accountability, as a lot of things do. If you are Muslim and you want to lay a mat down and pray, then I'll step around you. Hell, I'll even help you up if I'm there at the right time. Why would I feel threatened because of what's in your heart? And it doesn't threaten my kids either, because I've assumed some ACCOUNTABILITY...to answer their questions and I've guided them in my own way. Now at the point you come in my house, turn off my TV, and ask everyone to be quiet so you can pray, then we have a problem.
And speaking of kids, if we allow fanatics to control us in the name of PC then why are our kids in the armed services dying to give us freedom? I swear, every time some "office manager" decides to ban Christmas trees, or menorahs, or dream catchers from the office I'd like to put a pork chop in his mouth and set him off in the middle of Baghdad.
OK, that's enough for now :)
