For hundreds, if not thousands of years, racism was fueled by one simple thing: ignorance. This ignorance was justified by a cocktail of ingredients, ranging from misconstrued religion to psychotically immoral science (Darwinism and eugenics). The philosophy behind the racism of yesteryear shared a common root: it was always based on a lack of intelligence. This, it seems, should have been solved by the spread of modern education. If the problem was ignorance, effective schooling was the antidote, right? This sounds correct, and it partially is. But that assumption ignores the fact that racism is ingrained into the human psyche, and if repressed in one form, it will simply reappear with a more hidden structure. The new, concealed form of racism that is rampant today is known as neo-racism.
The prevalence of education subsequently eliminated ignorance and misunderstanding in most racial matters. But the spread of education also caused the ascent of another justification for racism, and one of the two major components of neo-racism: multicultural sensitivity. It is the most stealthy type of racism, especially with intellectuals, because it claims to fight what it actually perpetuates. This form of neo-racism is most evident in the most racist institution in America: affirmative action.
Multicultural sensitivity, through years of meticulous social engineering, spawned the other sneaky variant of neo-racism: racial pride. Racism not only entails one to punish or shun inferior races, it can also manifest itself in racial pride. The diversity police, enforcing their policies in workplaces and schools, have encouraged and nourished the development of racial pride, mostly in ethnic minorities. Adherents of racial pride take pride in themselves, not because of their own achievements, but because of the achievements of fellow members of their race or ethnicity. They believe that if a fellow black, white, Hispanic, or Asian achieves something, the achievement's value washes off on everyone of that respective race, as if every member of the race is a cell in some vast, interconnected racial commune. Those who invest in racial pride gain a false sense of entitlement; and worse yet, they base their entire personal identity on their race. Instead of being an America, they call themselves African-Americans, or Mexican-Americans, or Chinese-Americans; the very thought of calling themselves an American, without a hyphen, makes them feel as if they are abandoning their ethnicity or nationality. The desire for immigrants to maintain their national or racial identity, despite leaving their homeland, is a common subtype of racial pride.
Authentic pride can only come from one source: personal achievement. Pride is the reward for a job well done, for overcoming your personal difficulties, for reaching your goals. Because of the nature of pride, it cannot extend beyond yourself. Nobody can legitimately claim pride for someone else's achievements. This premise, therefore, makes racial pride a ridiculous concept. You cannot feel true pride for anyone but yourself, and you certainly cannot feel pride for happening to be born of a certain race (or in a certain country), because you played no part in establishing that outcome. Pride can only result from personal decisions, not fate.
Despite its obvious imbecility and racist principles, racial pride has been encouraged as a therapeutic doctrine for making minorities feel tolerated and important. The celebration of Kwanzaa is the ultimate manifestation of racial pride, and its formal recognition by the government speaks volumes of our nation's gullibility concerning "racial tolerance." Even though Kwanzaa is listed among other legitimate holidays, such as Christmas and Hanakuh, most Americas know nothing of its actual origins.
Let me enlighten: Kwanzaa was created by convicted felon Ron Karenga, former member of the ultra-racist United Slaves organization, the murderous rival gang of the Black Panthers during the late 1960's. Before he was jailed for assaulting two women in 1971, Karenga quite literally invented Kwanzaa out of thin air, creating the philosophy of the holiday by mixing pan-African unity with Marxism. Kwanzaa has no real history, no actual cultural influence, and no importance compared to real holidays. Kwanzaa is simply a celebration of racism and communism, encouraging the infinite prolongation of racial conflict and foolishness.
Someone who needs to enthrall themselves in racial pride, and its corresponding holidays, such as Kwanzaa, is someone who has no authentic pride in their own being. Racial pride is simply an insecurity for lost, dopey individuals who do not take pride from the only action that can legitimately earn it: being an individual. The allure of racial pride is as powerful as other shallow but charismatic politico-social causes, causing it to draw in a multitude of confused, emotionally-charged followers.
Racial pride and multicultural sensitivity are two sides of the same coin; both fueling each other and plundering everything rational in their path. Racial pride takes advantage of the easily manipulated and shallow-minded masses, and multicultural sensitivity, pushed by public schools and universities, panders to the will of "racial tolerance," thus creating more fuel for racial pride. Both components of neo-racism build off of each other's successes in vicious cycle-fashion, thereby creating an unstoppable wave of self-righteous, racist babble.
Is there an effective solution to racism? Yes, ignoring it. Racism is the only societal problem that can solved by simply ignoring it. The more you think about race, the more you become a racist. By trying to artificially create "diversity," you only encourage a world in which people are classified by race instead of character and achievement. The guilt invoked by the civil rights movement of the 1960's caused America to snap too fast in the other direction, thereby facilitating the growth of neo-racism. Jim Crow laws and segregation, which represented traditional racism, have been replaced by hate crime laws and affirmative action, which represent neo-racism. The only cure to our racial ailments is to stop racism, stop reverse-racism, stop neo-racism, stop thinking about race, stop thinking about racial differences, and stop thinking about diversity.
It's never too late to start classifying race as nothing more than a pointless physical attribute, like the size of your feet or the length of your thumbs. Your race or heritage or nationality or color or ancestry or ethnicity or blood or descent or genealogy or lineage or origin or pedigree or whatever else you want to call it, does not define you, even if you want it to. Only your actions, your thoughts, your character, your choices, your achievements, your failures, and your current life, can define you.
