Slipknot bassist Paul Gray dead at 38: reports Tue May 25, 4:15 am ET LOS ANGELES (AFP) – Paul Gray, bass guitarist with macabre heavy metal band Slipknot, has been found dead in an Iowa hotel room aged 38, US media reported Monday. The musician's body was discovered by staff at a hotel in Johnston, near Des Moines by an employee, reports said citing local police. The cause of death has not been determined but foul play was not suspected. Gray was one of the founders of the group, which was launched in Iowa in 1995 and has become famous for the menacing hockey masks band members wear. Gray famously wore a black pig mask on stage. The band has enjoyed sustained success since their debut 1999 album, "Slipknot," which sold more than a million copies. The band's fourth album -- "All Hope Is Gone" -- reached number one on the Billboard 200 in the United States and also topped the charts in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Austria, Finland, Sweden and Switzerland. The band has been nominated for Grammys on seven occasions, winning in 2006 in the best metal performance category for "Before I Forget."

Today there have been rumors all over the internet about the Dio death, but people said it was a hoax. However, his wife Wendy Dio announced that Ronnie James Dio died this morning at 7:45 am. Dio had suffered from stomach cancer, and was in a Houston area hospital getting treatment for the cancer. His wife said that her ‘heart is broken.’ She also said that ‘Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.’ Ronnie James Dio replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath. He was considered a metal god. Later on, Dio fronted Heaven & Hell as well as the band Dio. His family and friends were thankful that they were able to say goodbye privately before he died. He will be missed. May Ronnie James Dio rest in peace. His music will indeed live on forever. However, now the rock star Dio is reportedly dead as of early Sunday morning, losing his life due to a tough battle with cancer. The rock and roll singer died at age 67, and was currently a member of the band Heaven & Hell. The latest update on ronniejamesdio.com comes from his wife, Wendy Dio. Wendy writes: Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Ronnie James Dio was a rock musician for quite some time with several bands, but after learning of cancer back in 2009, he eventually was forced to cancel his upcoming European tour dates with Heaven & Hell. One of the past updates on his website reported that he had been undergoing intense chemo sessions, and they had shrunken the tumor down. However, cancer is a tough battle and claims many lives way too early. This is an unfortunate loss for the world of music and entertainment with the news that Dio died. RIP to Ronnie James Dio, whose music legacy will continue to live on. 

April 15, today, 48 years old, Peter Steele died (Petrus T. Ratajczyk actually) due to a heart problem. The truth is that lately his health problems were becoming increasingly evident, but we did not think to leave us so soon. Before creating Type O Negative in 1989, band that came to edit 7 studio albums, Steele had been in bands like Carnivore and Fallout. This time it seems that the news of his death is serious, and is not intending to make a joke with this. In 2005 jumped rumors about his death because the band released a photo of a tombstone with his name on the website. Later withdrawn, giving as an explanation of the recent signing of a contract with SPV after his departure from Roadrunner Records. What is certain is that Steele disappeared for a time without explanation or his manager or the rest of his teammates and, although the keyboardist for the band admitted that they had done so he could enjoy a solitary retreat, seems also was part of that time in psychiatric hospital.
