Well, I'm officially nuts - not only do we have the three sweet blind babies we've committed to socializing, training and raising until they are 16 weeks - such cuties, wouldn't guess they can't see! Now we've got EIGHT bouncing babies running about. They were scheduled for death today and one of my fosters alerted me to their need yesterday. Well without thinking I called the shelter, faxed my 501c3 letter and paid their bail... next thing I know we've got skinny, squirming, starving puppies in our car (no room for a crate big enough to contain them all!). Well I'm glad I didn't think it through, ask permission from my board or hesitate because they're welcome as long as they need and I love raising Pit Bulls - we can change their destiny here. These babies will be good with kids, cats and dogs of all sizes before they leave. We'll work on training and get them the immune system boosting supplements they so desperately need... (why do people take pups from their moms at 6 weeks?! much less dump them in a box at a high kill shelter?!) A new relationship has blossomed as well as Animal Friends of the Valley said they've been looking for a Pit Bull Rescue for over a year. Pits and Pit mixes fates are sealed once they walk through their doors, so the staff has learned not to give them names, not to get attached, hell, I don't even think these pups were fed - what's the point? They were going to die today.... Well, we're not a breed specific rescue, but I love those Pitties... so do my kids... there is no discrimination here. Names have been given by... Laura McClain-Neely named our baby girl with her generous donation Meet Spirit O Bliss, Bliss Joshua Gilbert named THREE of our boys with his donation and since he didn't suggest a name....
