R.I.P. PUDGEY
on x-mas 2008 we got our daughter a puppy..
he was such a cute little thing, just an adoreable lil pup.
when we went to pick him up he was in a litter of 7 pups the guy was giving away.
after a few moments this pup was just standing there with his front paws over the edge of the box. our daughter went over to him & they were nose to nose. he licked her & she kissed him back. they were ment for each other, love at first puppy kiss if you will.
at first we had a hell of a time gettin him trained to potty outside & being "gentle" around the baby (our daughter). but it didn't take long realy until he was the one gettin the blunt of the punishment.... from the lil one!!! lol
she jumped on him , sat on him, poked @ his eyes, pulle dhis ears & lips, and he never snapped at her. not even once.
now how many puppies or even full grown dogs will let a child do that with out snapping at them? likwe i said they were made for each other. he was her protector. the way i was teaching him. he even got between me & her when we was playing. it was funy. but he was protecting her, just liek a good dog should do.
well after a few months & a lot of work he was a very good dog for all of us. all he wanted was to run & play and get some love. and "swim" in the pool with the lil one. he loved the water, just like she does.
well the other morning mommy took him outside like we have been doing since stayin with her mom. a few hours later i was takin him out a snack & he was just layin there, didn't jump up to great me or any thing, not like his normal self. i dropped the plate of food & ran over to him, it was too late, he was dead. nothing i could do for him.
so after waking mommy up & telling her, we got dressed & i wrapped him up in a blanket, put him in the back of the jeep & loaded lil one in the jeep & went for a drive, to find a proper place to bury him. thankfuly lil one took a nap while we was driving, she doesnt understand yet that her loving puppy that would give just about anyone a kiss, is gone & not able to come back.
when we went outside to play in the pool today she went looking for him, calling "Pudgey, Pudgey!", going over to where he liked to hide in the shade under the bushes there.
still not sure how to break the news to a two year old that her precious loving puppy, Pudgey, is not with us anymore & can never come back. with out her thinking that we gave him away to punish her for something. this is tearin me up. we all loved that puppy. for a puppy he was a horse, weighing in at 60 pounds, his front shoulders were just above my knees, when he stood up on his hind legs his [paws almost reached my shoulders & he was able to lick my face without any problems. (for the record i am 6 foot tall, to give ya'll some perspective on his size.)
the pictures & few videos we have of him are posted in my stashes. some of the pictures there are posted in the regular piture folders too, but since i'm not sur ehwo to post videos there they are alll in my stashes. so if you are a dog lover, check them out & leave a message if you would.
by all means take good care of your pooches!!! for they may be the one that protects of helps you in your time of need.
