I sit here staring at your empty chair

Wishing you were here, not there

Wherever it is you may be

Hopefully you’ll come home to me

Months, weeks and days

All blend together in a haze

Until someone asks about you

Then the sadness feels anew

Sadness cause I miss you so much

I wish it was easier to keep in touch

Even though you are gone

Life at home will go on

I am proud of you

For serving our country as you do
