I understand

You can be called

To action

At any time

But I won't cry

On a moments

Notice

Phone calls

Can be limited,

Missed,

Or dropped

Before a goodbye

But I won't cry

I could be

Holding you

One moment

And letting go

the next

But I won't cry

I accept

That you volunteered

To put your life

On the line

But I won't cry

I will store

In my memory

All the time

We spend together

I will hold you

In my heart

Where you will live

Forever

I will be strong

And wear

A brave face

If I was your girl

I would tell you I love you

Every morning

Every night

At the end of every phone call

And every fight.

If I was your girl

I would hide notes

Of encouragement,

And expressing my love,

In places fun to find them,

Like your wallet, car, or lunch.

If I was your girl

I would love you like no other,

Spoil you with kindness,

Share with you laughter,

And shower you with friendship.

If I was your girl

You would be smothered

In kisses and hugs,

Held onto every chance I got,

And drowning in love and affection.

If I was your girl

And if I was your wife,

You would have this

and more

for the rest of our life.

Revelation

Drowning in a sea of emotion.

Moonlight dances across the waves.

Darkness sets.

Rain pushing me further.

Thunder serenades.

Will anyone save me?

Do I want to be saved?

Alone with my thoughts,

Vast as the sea I'm in.

The shore,

Safety.

The sea,

Free from where I've been.

As I fade away

Into the nothingness

That envelops me...

I awake,

The sand,

Warm.

Like a body,

Holding me tight,

Safe.

I see the sunrise,

Beautiful,

Bright,

New.

As the new day begins,

There is light,

There is peace,

There is hope.

New Start

I see the silver lining,

The sunlight through the storm.

The things that once went

Spiralling out of control

Are in my posession,

Lost no more.

Searching and fighting

Turned to seeing and believing.

My hope and faith restored

A future uncertain but promising.

Laugh through the pain,

The hurt goes away.

Rise above the flame,

It does not burn, the sky

No longer grey.

The past turns to ash,

Dirt,

Forgotten.

It makes way for the bright,

New day.

Let the rain cleanse the soul

And the sun warm your heart.

The future may be uncertain,

But today is a fresh,

New start.

Did you cry for me?

Did you shed one tear?

If even one fell for me

I will know that you care.

Did you cry for me?

Did you shed some tears?

If few fell for me

I will know the love is still there.

Did you cry for me?

Did you sob uncontrolably?

Were lots of tears shed?

If you cried this much for me

Then all is not dead.

The Greatest Man

The greatest man I ever loved

I let slip away.

He's never quite that far from me

As I see reminders everyday.

But the miles between us hurt so bad,

To touch him once again.

I hear him in a song

I see him in a dream

And think of what should have been.

I smell his smell from time to time

And remember what we had.

I hope one day we meet again

So I can have the greatest man.

A Life Lost

As I lay here in shrouds of white
You cry over me.

I feel your warm tears flood over me.
Or is that my blood,
My life,
Leaving my body?

You once breathed me life
And just as quickly
Took it away.

Don't apologize for what you've done to me.
It didn't have to be this way.

Don't tell me you still love me
It's too late for that now.
You had your chance
And you blew it.

For pride?
For selfish reasoning?
That's the burden you will have to carry.

I cannot help you now
Only haunt you with my memory.

Don't place me in a fancy coffin.
I am not deserving.

Instead, just throw me in the ground
Along with all the dirt.

This is how you left me.
I leave you to feel the hurt.

My memory will haunt you
In everything you do
To serve as a reminder
Of what I sacrificed for you!

I am not in a better place
That place was destroyed by you.

So as my life slips away
And you wonder why this happened
Always know it was simply because...

Do you still remember me

Or have I become a faded memory

I was once the one you could not live without

Now I am the one you forgot about

Have I ever crossed your mind

Since you left me far behind

Our love was pure, deep, and strong

But the time that's past has been so long

If our paths should cross again someday

Some random chance that we should meet

Will we look at each other and say

Standing there on Lonely Street

Do you still remember me

Do you wish things were how they use to be?
