It is said that a man must live for the sake of his brothers
Sacrificing his life for the lives of all others
Who must in turn sacrifice themselves
A perpetual, groaning, and agonizing Hell.
But this is what is taught and preached
A "moral" ideal that cannot be reached
And when a man lives and acts for his own joy
This "morality" they shriek he's out to destroy
There is no man quite as unkind
As the man who tells you to abandon your mind
To follow your heart, to be blind as a mole
And to do what is right, by the collective soul.
He tells you that you must love all men
Even if they are unworthy-- ESPECIALLY then
That's when you owe them your love even more
And the undeserving feed from the running, open sore
Which is all that remains of your splintered soul
Ready to collapse into the black hole
Of the man you never were, but could have been
But wanting to live, you were taught was a sin.
So you forget your ambition, abandon your desire
In an effort to aim for what was said to be higher
To lose your mind to the masses, and yourself in the collective, the whole
And you wonder why there is no chance for your soul
(When you substitute justice for mercy)
When you sacrifice what's good for what's not
When you reject reason and rationality for mystical ambiguities.
What could you ever hope to be, but a floating sac of generalities?
There is nothing of substance within.
You are empty.
