Shattered
                   
The date is November 15
And the time is just past two
Had a migraine and needed a shot
We just had too much to do
 
We drove out to get my sister
So she could sit with me there
My daughter had an appointment
And her dad would take her there
 
Maggie and netta were gabbing away
And I was resting my eyes
Talking of her work and giggling too
She talks about the guys
 
Driving along we pulled to a stop
And started again on our way
We stopped I heard the loudest pop
Then a buzz that seems to stay
 
Then I heard voices of fearful pain
As we established who was hurt
And he said I have no more car
I couldn't believe how I hurt
 
Am I bleeding my baby cried out
No I think it's aunties arm
Someone needs to check on Breezy
I cried out with alarm.
 
I looked over at the driver
As I hear him freaking out
Its ok please calm down
I hear my voice seem to shout
 
I start seeing these men….. assessing the scene
Where is the pain…. One said
I hear myself saying in my neck and back
I can't seem to move my head.
 
They ask him to hold the blanket up
So the glass won't hit me
And the blanket keeps falling down
Its ok soon you will be free
 
Then they got brian out of the car
And a fireman got in
He held the blanket from my face
I could see his concern within
 
I could feel the angels guiding them
As they used the jaws of life
His hand was placed on my mid back
The pain wasn't quite like a knife
 
He gently rolled me toward his side
As they pried and pulled the door
The neck collar was in place
Yet I knew more pain was in store
 
Soon we inched me out of the car
Getting ready to freak out
I look up and saw his smile
And no more did I want to shout
 
I ask again where is netta
Its ok you will be riding with her
They load me into the ambulance
We sang to try and soothe her
 
Netta and I sang a popcorn popping
As we started on our way
Trying to calm and soothe her fears
As my pain grew in me that day
 
At the hospital I could see concern
In the doctors worried face
I couldn't get no one to answer
How my mind just seemed to race
 
Running tests on all the people
x-rays, ctscans and more
I hear them mention injuries
But still noone would say more
 
They tell me I am being admitted
ICU the first night
Don't see any broken bones he says
But with the OI you might
 
I ask again whats going on
How are the others in the car
Are they all alive and breething
Will my baby have scars
 
Did somebody go pick up breezy
Is she home with no one there
Can someone please give me answers
I need someone to care
 
My brother comes in to talk to me
I ask him about the others
Netta is ok, she has a few bumps
Maggie and her will ride home together
 
My dear sister and greatest hero
Had cuts going up her arms
As she put it in front of nettas face
How sweet my gigis charms
 
Brian is really out if it hon
This threw him for a loop
He has a slight concussion
He's at his moms to recoup
 
I lay there for 4 days in pain..
Then am released with out a collar
A month later they find the fractures
It makes me want to hollar
 
Now Many months have passed
And I still seem to want to cry
The pains are so different than before
And on my back I sometimes lie….
 
NO paralyzation, I am alive
So I have to try and smile
For tomorrow brings another day
No more tears for a while
