As I walk this path I’ve walked a thousand times before
All my mind can focus on is how bad I want to come home
To you and your loving arms our daily conversations leave me wanting more
Every minute that my ears are blessed with your sweet voice
My eye’s and heart cry in sync my arms ache to hold you
While my lips shiver and long to feel, to taste your kiss
Imagination running wild with images of us two
Upon the couch our love constructing the blanket that keeps us warm
Waves of passion thirty-five years in the making unleashed
With the fury of Katrina ripping through new Orleans unstoppable
And unforgettable wondering how I could have accomplished
Surviving a day let alone thirty-five years of emptiness
You’re everything I ever dreamed of and desired so many imposters
Tried to fill the part but never lasted and now I’ve finally
Found you thousands of miles away but I’m determined to destroy the barriers
That stand between our two souls becoming one forever
You have given me reason to resurrect the man I once buried because of lies
Giving new purpose to the poetry my hands construct now stronger
And deeper than before because our hearts can love without compromise
Something I have never known in my life I wanna get
Lost within your eyes and then found within your arms
I wanna be the thought that makes you smile to be
The medicine that heals your pain I am intoxicated by your charms
I would write you a million poems but then I’d lose precious time with you
And I’ve lost too much already and don’t wanna waste another second
By you I am consumed
