Hello My name is Bruce Burgess son of Leonard John Burgess and I have a few memories to share.
I must apologize in advance if I don't get through this as my seasonal allergies seem to be acting up causing my eyes to water.
First of all I would like to thank everyone here for coming to celebrate the life of my dad.
my father was a true inspiration to me of how to treat others, how to be brave and courageous.
I always smile when I think back on his jokes he previously told you...
you didn't have to worry you would hear the same joke from him several times again later on. He did enjoy making others smile and laugh.
As a proud son of a OPP police officer I remember how gullible I was when he tricked me one day by saying he was to be featured on the tv show Top Cops
he should have known that every police officer child must feel that their parent was a top cop in their eyes.
It was always so interested watching my father stand out from the crowd unfortunately it was usually here in the church singing at hymm off key and unfortunately the loudest.
I would like to share a quote from Mark Twaine that I can really relate too.
When I was a boy of 14 my father was so ignorant I would hardly stand to have the old man around but when I got to be 21 I was astonished at how much he had learned in 7 years
Thank you dad for welcoming all of your children not only to your home, but more importantly to your heart.
