Black Boots on his feet, with Gear on his back; His legs unsteady under his Large Pack. Not feeling Ready, Not Quite feeling Bold; He readies himself for a place untold. The Soldier looks ahead, an unblinking Stare; If he does not return will anyone care? These words echo throughout his worn, weary mind; As he stands withered, against the test of time. Though it is not easy to hear, Say it he must; This man fears that his soldiers are all he can trust. The world has left him scarred, and so full of pain; As he walks with his pack through the pouring rain. His family long gone, he relies on his fellow brothers; Some here have families, but this young man has no others. With all of his soldiers beside him, his heart remains true; He serves his country so proudly for the Red, White and Blue. ~Jeremy~ |
