PatientVengeance's blog: "Pet Food"

created on 11/29/2007  |  http://fubar.com/pet-food/b161072
As simple and stress free we want our lives to be, it never is, never can be, and never will be. As much as we want to say we know what’s going on, being the general public, we are niece, naive to an extreme. We live so sheltered to the on goings of big business and the almighty dollar, should we be ashamed of ourselves or be bold enough to speak out, and demand what should be right? Rambling to those it may seem, but there is a reason to the madness. The subject at had goes further than any of us would ever know, it’s all about money as businesses keep us in the dark, unaware, and uneducated, and as do the bureaucrats who probably play an open had to them. A co-worker and I in spare time or if curiosity plays a hand in it, look at different subjects, and as of lately it has been on the subject of pet foods. A lot of this stemmed from everyone thinking they are buying the best pet food for their pet, no one can truly state this. With the recent scare on all products with glutens in them, and other various recalls, does anyone really check what’s being purchased? Unknown to many, Menu Foods (correct me if I’m wrong), packages a major portion of the pet food brands. With this knowledge, have you ever thought how easy it is to cross contaminate other brands, and I mean from standard dog foods to what we think are premium brands? Industries try strongly to not throw something to the landfill, whether animal parts and pieces, or chemical by-products, anything, everything can generate funds. With the gluten scare, did anyone truly come out and say what caused the issue that sickened so many pet, and kill some at that? Industry said that the process was contaminated with rat poison, but did anyone fail to tell us it was more than that? Remember I said industry never throws away, did the news ever tell us that the gluten was tainted with Acetaminophen, completely deadly to felines and some dogs. They didn’t lie did they, it probably kills rats, and them some, huh. Don’t believe me, here’s a link: http://petfoodtracker.blogspot.com/2007/05/corn-gluten-intercepted-in-canada.html Ever thought where animal parts and pieces go? How about the pet you had to put down, or even all the strays and unwanted pets at the shelter that have overstayed their welcome? All these end up going to a rendering plant to be processed for some sort of consumption, whether human or animal, ever hear of animal by-products? Yes, you see them in food you eat as well as your pets, granted they have different standards, but still. You may eat what came from the slaughter house, but you dear pet not only eats that, but all the euthanized pets on top of that. Because of bacterial issues with all the waste with carcasses and parts, they are processed for other uses 200 million pounds a day. During the rendering process, some of the chemicals used to enhance growth or to terminate life never go away, so with the finished product, the contaminates are still there, there for ingestion. What they use to terminate life is now being ingested by your pet, a toxin you never knew of, never thought about, and why would you? I willing to say that most think that a dogs skin on their belly and legs is supposed to be tan with age, right? WRONG, that’s the ingested toxins in their system, aging them, poisoning them! If you want to read it, the main study is between pages 10 and 25 on the address here. http://leda.law.harvard.edu/leda/data/784/Patrick06.html And are we at fault? Yes, most of us have a short vision on how much the food cost at that moment! Not knowing, or not trying to educate ourselves on the digestibility of the $12 dollar bag we just bought verses a $20 bag. The more digestible the dog food, the less they actually need, you can check this by looking at the calories per cup, and of course, the recommended feeding on the bag. You may end up buying two $12 bags to one $20 bag for the same time frame, now what can you say? Now a higher dollar pet food doesn’t mean anything, look for independent studies, then make up your mind. Iams, Science Diet, and others that have a premium price, are they worth it? You’d be surprised, just look and see. http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/ Can you blame your vet? No, and here’s why, who do you think pays for equipment, books, facilities, and what not for your vet? Sure it’s going to be one sided, isn’t everything? They’re only going by what they were taught, knowledge is power, so why would big business give that up? Why would they think otherwise, where are all the free samples coming from, all the puppy kits? I’ll leave the curiosity in your court now, if you want to know more on pet food recalls, definitions, corruptions, ect, please do. http://www.petfoodrecallfacts.com/
