Hunter & Trey Tanner, 1 year old identical twin sons of Capt. Travis Tanner have been diagnosed with MPS (Mucopolysaccharidosis) Type 1. MPS is a group of rare genetic disorders caused by the deficiency of one of ten specific lysosomal enzymes, resulting in an inability to metabolize complex carbohydrates (mucopolysaccharides) into simpler molecules. The accumulation of these large, undegraded mucopolysaccharides in the cells of the body causes a number of physical symptoms and abnormalities. The jest of what this comes down to is that the babies cannot break down and discard their used, dead cells. This results in their system becoming toxic resulting in death. The approximate life expectancy is 8 -15 years of age with out treatment. Capt. Travis Tanner and his wife Kelly are long time friends of both the Wiggins and AF Families. Travis has been on a few shows as well as Blair' former tournament partner (pre-AF tv days). We would like to do anything and everything that we can to get the money that Trey & Hunter need, as they will be undergoing stem cell replacement, out of state. This treatment gives the boys an 85% success rate for normal lives. This will cause Travis & Kelly to be out of work for 4-6 months in order to be with their sons, there is a 15% chance that they will not survive this surgery. If you were at the FLW weigh in in Pensacola or Titusville you may have met them, they are just the happiest guys that you have ever met! (this diagnoses was recieved after Pensacola). Our military is not "flying free" as most Americans believe. As a majority of the airlines do not provide discount fares for the military, the men and women actively serving our country are paying for their own flights home during leave and - in many instances - are paying higher fares than most of the public. The reason for this is that they are unable to book their tickets in advance as their leaves are not always granted 21, 14 nor 7 days in advance. Please sign the Military Airfare Reduction petition to ask the government and 11 major airlines to provide military discounts to those on active duty. Many are unable to fly home because of the inability to afford the airline rates. Please sign this petition in the hopes of showing our military who serve in place of those of us who will not fight our appreciation for their service and dedication.
