Poem I found

Bertrand Russell: Three passions have governed my life: The longings for love, the search for knowledge, And unbearable pity for the suffering of [humankind]. Love brings ecstasy and relieves loneliness. In the union of love I have seen In a mystic miniature the prefiguring vision Of the heavens that saints and poets have imagined. With equal passion I have sought knowledge. I have wished to understand the hearts of [people]. I have wished to know why the stars shine. Love and knowledge led upwards to the heavens, But always pity brought me back to earth; Cries of pain reverberated in my heart Of children in famine, of victims tortured And of old people left helpless. I long to alleviate the evil, but I cannot, And I too suffer. This has been my life; I found it worth living.

Poem for Russ

Intertwined 3/5/08 You might be going through withdrawal from me, But it's gonna be ok baby, I'll give you all of me, everyday while you're so far away. I may not be there to hold you now, especially when you're feeling down, But you can count us to be together, no matter the distance we must endure. Things may be rough, but our love is strong enough. We can get through the storm, to find a rainbow at the end. All we have to do is pretend, close our eyes and remember the good times. Because our bodies may be separated, but your face is never faded from my mind, and our hearts are forever intertwined. Love, always, Jenn
