Ok so here I am at it again, those that know me know very well I just cant seem to keep my mouth shut.
Ok so check this out, i'm sittin here watching the news over the past couple of days ( what they call the news anyway) and here in Houston there has been this huge stink about child predators and offenders and letting people know where they live etc..
So the news report tonight was touching on that topic but they took it a step further and asked "What if your child was in school sitting next to a child predator?"
now this questions struck me as odd because I was sittin there thinkin wdf is some old pervert doing in a school building in class? I mean know they arent hiring predators as teachers.
Well as it turns out they where talking about other children that had been caught or punished for some type of sexual crime. Now we arent talking about highschool age children, we are talking elementary and Jr high kids.
So as I was watching the report my first thoughts and instinct was "damn thats messed up, and yes i would want to know , and NO i didnt want my kids sittin there like that"
HOWEVER, as i contiued to listen to the report as it turned out. One of the kids they were talking about at the age of 9 got caught with some little girl doing the "you show me yours i'll show you mine" LITERALLY!!
NOW i'm not saying this is right because we all know it isnt, i mean thats why we stop kids right?
BUT is it right to label a kid all through school behind something like that? to raise a big stink, to have an entire news report? i mean is that actually news worthy? That is something that believe it or not most kids will do. this kid did this at the age of 9 and now he is going from jr high to highschool, and they found a reason to bring attention to him because of this.
now they did not release his name true enough, but yet and still ....NEWS WORTHY? and we arent talking about someone who has done it again, or a repeat offender.
as i continued to watch the report, they pointed out 3 different kids ( not naming them ) with similar situations.
we arent talking rapist here, we arent talking sexual contact.
we are talking about 2 kids that got caught playing you show me yours i'll show you mine.
we are talking about a lil boy that lifted a girls skirt as a joke in the hallway. we are talking about a little boy that snapped a girls bra in the hallway.
talk about an unforgiving society, i mean really.
we live in a society that preaches forgiveness, that tells you to keep your head up and get past whatever obstacles you may run into, and YET ....THIS....is their form of forgiveness.
let that child move on with his/her life, there are much more important things to cover in the news, much more things that are news worthy.
well that is my insane rant for now.
