The "No Child Left Behind Act" Wikipedia meaning of: The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (Public Law 107-110), commonly known as NCLB, is a United States federal law signed on January 8, 2002 that reauthorizes a number of federal programs aiming to improve the performance of U.S. primary and secondary schools by increasing the standards of accountability for states, school districts and schools, as well as providing parents more flexibility in choosing which schools their children will attend. Additionally, it promotes an increased focus on reading and re-authorizes the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA). NCLB is the latest federal legislation (another was Goals 2000) which enacts the theories of standards-based education reform, formerly known as outcome-based education, which is based on the belief that high expectations and setting of goals will result in success for all students. The act also requires that the schools distribute the name, home phone number and address of every student enrolled to military recruiters.[1]
That the notorious No Child Left Behind Act includes a sneaky section that requires high schools to turn over private information on students to military recruiters?
And that the Pentagon has created an illegal database of 30 million 16-25 year-olds, including names, addresses, email addresses, cell phone numbers, ethnicities, social security numbers, extracurricular activities, and areas of study?
Yikes. What do we do? Any way you look at it, this is a family privacy nightmare, another strong-arming of our local schools, and a creepy warm-up to a possible draft. However, it's also a great reason to get together and take action.
So, whether you're a parent, teacher, student, school administrator, veteran or just another adamant American concerned about privacy rights.

Also the NCLB Scam has this in it for those that don't know the biggest obstacle to improving education involves the lack of resources given to schools by the No Child Left Behind program. According to the National Education Association, the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 "focuses on punishments rather than assistance, mandates rather than support for effective programs and privatization rather than teacher-led, family oriented solutions." Feldman says the promise to devote more money for after-school programs, summer school and professional development support for teachers has been broken by the Bush administration. The law in general is an unfounded mandate.
