I traded in my Fender Jazzmaster for a new Gibson Les Paul Standard, ive never been much of a fan of Gibson guitars but now i have figured out that all Gibsons are not created equal, this one just kills! Its totally amazing! There is something really sexy about these guitars, you strap one on and you feel the testosterone level in your body rising, hit an open E chord and hair starts growing on your chest, go from E to A and tattoos magically appear on your arms.. Suddenly you are Jimmy Page only not 60 years old or whatever.. Anyway, now i really need a Marshall stack and a model girlfriend, hmm, somehow i dont think my wife will go along with that, bummer!

Another night shift drawing to an end, i have been sitting on my ass for 10 and a half hours drinking coffee and spewing out rockabilly licks on my Jazzmaster. Im one of the lucky people i guess, i get payed for doing the stuff i would be doing anyway if i wasnt at work, thats a pretty sweet deal, i cant complain.

The guys in my band have been busy doing other things for a while so i have been using our studio for some of my pet projects. I have been writing and recording some songs that i dont really see my band using at all, mostly rock/country style tunes that have absolutely nothing in common with the House music i do with my band. I bought a new overdrive pedal made by TC Electronics in Denmark, its similar sounding but vastly superior to an Ibanez Tubescreamer, it adds a really nice texture to the sound of my Telecaster, i will probably be using this overdrive on every song i record from now on, it just sounds that good.

When i first found this page i went like "Holy crap! I ask some chick to be my friend and then i get to see a whole bunch of nekkid pictures of her! How cool is that?" But after a while that got kind of old and all the point-whoring stuff started to annoy me, also getting a bunch of "Support our troops" and "Remember 9/11" messages just made me physically ill, i dont support anybodys troops and i couldnt forget 9/11 even if i tried, it gets rehashed on the news every year for gods sake! Now the only reason i log in to this page is that i have gotten to know some interesting people here that i would probably lose all contact with if it wasnt for this site, i dont care about collecting points or fubar credits or what the fuck, i only log in here to talk to people, the people i talk to dont even have to have nekkid pictures on their page or look like supermodels or whatever, they just have to be fun to talk to, thats all.

Im playing a gig on bass guitar with a band on friday, its thursday morning now and i havent yet heard most of the songs i will be playing tomorrow, i dont understand why im so calm about it, i should be nervous but im not..Yet. I will probably post some pictures from the gig on this site, thats one of the good things about photograps of bands, you cant tell by looking at the photos how badly out of tune they are or that they dont actually know how to play their own songs, in that way photographs lie to you.

I added to my musical instrument collection recently, my bass guitar was falling apart so i traded somebody my Fender Telecaster for a Line6 Variax 5 string bass. Wow! what a difference it makes to have a bass guitar that actually works, my old one was truly fucked up, it was beyond the point where it was worth having repaired, it was dumpster bound. This Line6 bass is truly amazing, it has the sounds of 24 different bass guitars lurking inside it and theres no hiss or anything, its like magic! I have often been suspicious of technological advances, i have tried so many really crappy guitar amplifiers and gear thats supposed to be like the next big thing but then it usually sounds like doggie doodoo next to the older stuff so i was highly sceptical of this hybrid bass guitar that has built in digital simulations of, well, pretty much the complete history of bass guitars including a stand up bass and some very silly sounding synth basses, but then i plugged it in and it just delivered on its promises big time, this thing sounds bloody fantastic! Im sure that if i a/b tested the digital simulations next to the real thing that the real thing would sound at least marginally better but hell, this thing sounds better than anything im accustomed to and the sheer amount of different sounds it has is just a total inspiration, this is easily the best buy i have ever made in a musical instrument.

I dont understand why anybody would enlist for the military, im icelandic and we dont enjoy killing people. Its surely not to protect your country against terrorism unless your idea of protection against terrorism is to attack a country that is no threat to you, well, they might actually be a threat to you now that you have attacked them. Your president lied to you, he told you the iraqis caused 9/11, he told you they had weapons of mass destruction aimed at you, unless your only exposure to the media is watching the Cartoon Network on tv you should know by now you were lied to, he had you invade Iraq to steal their oil, thats all. I cannot and will not support anyone who signs up for this war, i refuse to support anyone that follows your presidents orders and kills people so that oil prices can remain stable and he and his right wing bible thumping buddies can get richer, i cannot support this and neither should you. 9/11 was a tragedy, my heart goes out to anyone and everyone who lost friends and family there but i think americas retaliation against the people of Iraq was a misguided criminal act, and i dont support criminals or their foot soldiers.

I spent the day a/b testing my guitars, i set up an amplifier and ran all my guitars through it at the same levels to hear how the different pickups responded and so forth. My Fender Jazzmaster had the broadest and most varied selection of useable sounds, it easily blew the others away sonically. My Fender Stratocaster sounded like a Strat should, no more no less. The Fender Telecaster was a disappointment, it has Custom Shop Texas special pickups and they are a bit too warm and fuzzy, Fender Teles are supposed to sound, well, a bit harsh and trebly but this one doesnt sound that way at all thanks to those stupid pickups, it sounds more rock than country and that isnt the quality i seek from a Telecaster. My Indonesian Tradition Jerry Reed standard Telecaster that costs five or six times less than the USA model Fender Telecaster wiped its feet on the american Tele, the bridge pickup has an authentic Telecaster bite and the humbucker in the neck position has a really nice vintage sound to it, this is easily the best buy guitar wise that i have made, if i had to choose only one guitar to take to a gig it would be this one.

Yesterday i got two new guitars, i traded my Gretsch 6120 for a 1963 model Fender Jaguar finished in olympic white and a Fender Telecaster that is kind of buttery yellow in colour. The Fender Jaguar is just amazing, it has that surf sound heard in the music of the Ventures and also works really well with effects pedals, Fender Jazzmasters have also been used by guitar players such as Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine and J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr so sonically they can cover a lot of different areas. The Fender Telecaster is a staple of country and western music, this one has Texas Special pickups that sound a little warmer and have slightly higher output than standard Telecaster pickups, the neck on this Telecaster is a bit wider than what im used to, its a bit like wrapping your hand around a baseball bat, also this guitar weighs a lot more than i expected but heavier woods often indicate more sustain and thats not a bad thing at all.
