Spring is a good time to meditate on beginnings. You will need a small
seashell with a spiral pattern, such as a nautilus or a conch. If you
can find one that is a necklace or keychain, so much the better. Seek
out a quiet place and seat yourself comfortably. Study the seashell
until you can clearly picture it in your mind. Trace its curves with
your fingers. Now close your eyes and visualize the seashell in as
much detail as you can imagine. See that it begins with a twist as
tiny as a grain of sand. Every chamber builds on the one before
it. If that first foundation is built crookedly, then everything built
on it will be warped also. But if that tiny beginning is well formed,
everything follows accordingly in a natural and graceful order.
Finally, carry your seashell with you as you go through your day, and
pay careful attention to any potential beginnings you make
