No not the Capitol, the actual zoo.
In the six hours I was in DC, I spent 3 of them in the National Zoo.
Which by the way is on a steep hill. Sadistically planned so that people with young children start off casually pushing their strollers down Olmsted Walk until they get to the bottom. Here they change into out of shape sherpas huffing and puffing their way back to Connecticut Avenue or whatever parking lot they started from.
It was a cold day on my visit and there were few sherpas.
Fat Sherpas aside some of the signs explaining the animals were hilarious.
Take for instance that of the Dama Gazelle.
Body Language: Dama Gazelles communicate with one another using their bodies. To attract a mate, the male stands erect or hits his horns against the grass to show his strength.
Cheeky little bastards.
