"CLOSE YOU EYE!"
I close my eyes. "shhhhhh..go to sleep."
"OKAY!" he screams. He has one level of speaking and it is LOUD.
He lays his head down..but stares at me.
"close your eyes Shomari" He closes them, but opens then almost immediatly.
"EEEANIE! CLOSE YOU EYE!"
"My eyes are closed Shomari...goodnight. shhh.." I rub at his back and fake a yawn.
Im peeking out of my right eye, because that is the one that lays on the pillow and I think it is super sneaky.
He is staring at me.
I bite my cheek to keep from smiling.
His fingertips brush against my eyelashes.
"EEANIE! WHATS THAT!?"
I ignore him...or try too.
He pushes against my eye now. and I open them. He jumps back.
"Stop. that hurts me. Now go to sleep."
I have him turn so his back is to me, I tug at the blanket that he lays on and I pull it over him.
"Goodnight Shomari..I love you, Sleep sweet." And after looking at the clock and thinking of all the curriculum I could be doing just then... I close my eyes.
He lays still for a moment.
"EEANIE!?"
I ignore him.
"EEANIE!?"
I ignore him.
"EEANIE!?"
I fake a snore.
"EEANIE!?"
I sigh an exasperated sigh and say "WHAT! Shomari?"
He lays still for a moment, looking back at me.
"YOU OKAY?!" His face is filled with concern.
I laugh.
A push myself up on one arm, head thrown back, laugh.
I finish and I look at him. He still stares. He is waiting for my answer. "Yes Shomari. I am okay."
"OKAY!?" and he lays his head down again.
I giggle once more and settle behind him, my arm draped across his middle.
He lays still and my body starts to relax. I tap my feet against the ground, so i dont fall asleep.
I feel...ever so slowly....shomari....turning....his body....to me.
His eyes are open and there is no sleep inside of them. He is not a child that I could leave awake and go about my work.
We stare at each other. An inch or so away.
I want to fricken laugh at him or kiss his cheeks. He is adorable, plus im 99.9 percent sure he is autistic.
I close my eyes (the left one more so then the right) and start to... ever so softly...and feminine-ly...snore.
I see him jump back and sit up a bit. He stares at my mouth. I omit another snore...this one louder. He stares at my mouth.
The snores are starting to mix with giggles, and i find myself thinking "fuck curriculum ill just lay here and watch this kid."
His fingers lay against my lips when they close. I spit em out. You have no idea what 2 year olds pick at...their noses their butts..other kids butts. Its a free for all pickin spree.
He looks shocked. his eyes look at mine. then at his fingers, then at my mouth.
I snore again. This time louder.
He sits up quickly. He moves closer to my face...I think to myself. Oh hell..what is this kid going to stick in my mouth now. But im kinda enjoying myself.
My snores are like "SNOgiggleRE SHgiggleOO"
He comes closer until he is looking into my mouth. I really want to go "OOGIDY BOOGIDY!" and lift my hands and shake em at him. But...ya know. Im pretty sure that I will wake one of the other 19 children that are alseep.
He stares into my mouth and then...as I blow out the air all forceful (like im really snorin ya know) His eyes widen and He LAUGHS. Shrilly. staring at my mouth.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" He jumps on his knees on his bed and looks around and then back at my lips.
I do it again. Trying not to open my eyes.
"HEEEEHEEEHAHHAAAA"
I cant help it. I open my eyes and I giggle with him.
He laughs and laugh until... "EEANIE! YOU OKAY?!"
I laugh and snuggle behind him. "Im okay.."
"OKAY!"
"Shomari...Go to sleep and Ill give you candy."
he was asleep in 5 minutes.
