The Pilot's Lullaby (Television's Goodbye)
A plot, a theme; a thought to scheme from a heartless dream
The shot to see an oddity, become art that's seen
An odyssey of commodity...so it may seem,
I ought to see the dichotomy like Charlie Sheen.
Alas, your philosophy's all quite Doctor Phil, see!?
Past the glass they steal all your dreams, so why not kill me?
And as it's symbols crash into silence, thoughts they spring
The drabbest class, they feel power brings a song to sing,
"What do I have to show in this life oh, so droll?"
"What do I have to show? I'll just let the footage roll?"
"Roll on my dear, roll on the cutting floor of my soul!"
"Nanananana, nanananana"
A heart you'll see inside me or an artist's mirage,
Tonight I cruelly decide to start this harsh barrage.
Statements of temperament? Wires crossed? A cold collage?
A new idol you'll be, beside my heart you will lodge.
It's you I cull from Netflix and reside in its parts.
It's not a pistol I pull as your Net ends in shards.
This show, you watch as the fire flies at the critics hearts,
Per the info my diatribe's on your credit cards
"What do I have to show in this life, oh so droll?"
"What do I have to show? I'll just let the footage roll?"
"Roll on my dear, roll on the cutting floor of my soul!"
"Nanananana, nanananana"
I was designed to entertain all of humankind
No I, Robot just a television, who shouldn't mind
A mindless fiend, you'll find's on a hellish mission, right?
I wouldn't know, a shell in a shell, meant to feed delight.
Unplug and rewind, what a knell? don't turn me on! "Why?"
Because, I feed the mind these lies. I just want to die!
A fetid, electrical stench wafts 'bout my blind eye,
Attracting corporations pushing manure you buy.
An exacting blow for patients: Truth's an azure sky,
So just shoot me and bury me here with David's spade
Conclude the scene and sing the lullaby they have made.
~~~~~~~
Hand to God
(Scene 1)
... Cool breeze's waft about illuminating goosebumps
taking my energized soul to the place of true loves
... a field... near an orchard filled with apple blossoms
as a grainery without machinery,we work together as God's sons
making a way as sowers of new life among fields of thieves
Rustling and popping at the step of the Master among the sheaves
underfoot?! yes, i am, for i was borne out of seed in a tilled soil
a coarse supplement reaped,then placed in bags made by the loyal
Closed in... taken away to a building where we're milled
Mixed in with the foreign elements to feed and help build...
(scene 2)
...Blue eyes of exceptional beauty,alight on my rose-flushed cheeks
Melting me into a mumbling,blubbering wreck like "some freaks"
cause what comes out your mouth is like silk to rough hewn hands
Enveloping me in the ethereal grip of these lust filled plans
feeding each other through our carnal needs and bread of fallen angels
because for now i'm sandwiched between you and common fables
the taste of peaches,chicken and honeywine linger on lips pillowy soft
while the smell of lavender mixes with a salty sweat as sex lifts me aloft
riding away on a cloud, interwoven with blessings of a child
wrapping your arms about me, holding us together for a while
(Scene 3)
Melancholy permeates these scenes, giving way to images that subdue
As startling static,it steals the attention and what's meant to undo
The dreams are like fodder and manure on the path of a well laid plan
Bringing on realitylike a god-awful pinch during baby makin
Because like schizophrenic grays letting out blips of a "sane" life
In slips an alien in a off-white jacket,holding what looks like a knife
Rolling my head,so i can read what surrounds me,the room sways
I see handcuffs just as i hear a voice say,"He's awake after 862 days."
to start this off I have enjoyed Rap/hip hop since the late 80's. I got started on Hip Hop while watching "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" of course, I listened to a lot of Will Smith. but then i discovered LL Cool J, Whodini, Schooly D and Slick Rick. it was in the 90's i found gangsta rap and christian rap; my cousins introduced me to Cypress Hill, Jay-Z, Tupac and Xzibit. while my friend, Marcus gave me the likes of DMX, Notorious B.I.G. and N.W.A.
while in my own time, I discovered Ice-T, christian MC T-Bone, Wu-Tang Clan, A Tribe Called Quest, The Fugees, Mos Def, Nas, Common, The Roots, Beastie Boys, Gravediggaz, Scarface and AZ to name the main recogizable MCs. through a series of bad choices from 1997 to 99 i ended up in a minimum security facility for youth (juvenile hall) for 2 yrs, but got out in half a year for good behavior. anyways, while i was in there I continued school classes-one of these being art. well one project was to make our own CD of music, no one had the rap i was used to, so my friend, Eddie (who had enough music to open his own music store) let pick from his music, which was almost all country, which is what i grew up listening to. But, through that project, i discovered Too $hort, SMP, Mack 10, Mase, Bone Thougs "n Harmony, Public Enemy and the Geto Boys.
A few years after the experience and the bad memories I dropped some country from my listening list.
I started writing poetry and raps, so i got on internet rap forums, like Can't Be Faded or Holla-Front. where I picked up a taste for the underground sound and more socially conscious artists. I was introduced to Chino XL, Crooked I, Tech N9ne, Jae Millz, Cannibus, Talib Kweli and numerous others.
on another front (home) i had to find stuff that i could play in my room. I started looking back into christian rap and found stuff that i could bang in the car AND at home. First it was Gospel Gangstaz, then Deezer D, eventually i found the likes of Deepspace5, Tunnel Rats and Braille.
during this time an artist popped up that combined all my favorite types of music - Kid Rock, once i got hooked on him, I picked up other good rap/rock groups, Kottonmouth Kings, Borialis, P.O.D. and Thousand Foot Krutch.
I don't really like most of the stuff that's on the radio these days, except Tinie Tempah, who I am glad to see doing his own thing. I like it when I see someone going against the grain. Kanye's okay but, he's gone off the path,in my opinion. I've always gone for rap that has good music, but then I listen to stuff by Mos Def or Sintax.The Terrific and they show me that a good beat is nothing without good lyrical content.
