What are you waiting for?

The Vedic Sky in 2009 We usher in the New Year with benevolent Jupiter entrapped within the confines of Capricorn, along with Rahu, the North Node. Saturn remains in Leo for another eight months, with the Sun also moving into Leo for a month in July. The Sun and Mars part ways from their present position in Sagittarius, never to meet again this year, except when they are both positioned in Capricorn for ten days in February 2009. Venus catches up with Saturn in Virgo in the last three months of the year. Mercury remains close to the Sun for most of the year, however, only for few days at a time. The global economic crisis of 2008 will continue to affect us as we start the New Year, and make life difficult for many of us during the first half of the year. Most of us will put a stop to discretionary spending and concentrate on essentials until economic conditions improve. Jupiter, the Guru, will continue to advise us to be wise with our dreams and plans for the next six months. The presence of the North Node, Rahu, in close quarters with Jupiter, will bring about changes that we are not yet ready for and it is best to expect the unexpected in the first half of the year. The most prudent advice for all of us is to embrace changes that come our way and look beyond the present as and think outside the box. The placement of Rahu in Capricorn signals that we need to look beyond our shores and be prepared for further globalization of our lives. From a financial and economic point of view, it will be important for all us to focus on our core competencies and look for opportunities in areas that offer long-term stability. If we can grasp these seemingly contradictory messages from Jupiter and Rahu, we will be prepared for success in the New Year. Saturn will continue to squeeze hard work and demand discipline from us in the first eight months of the year. There will no letup of the hard work required and the results may not be consummate with the effort put in. However, once Saturn changes signs in the month of September, and moves into Virgo, things will start falling into place almost magically. Things will ease up and you will get recognized and rewarded for your hard work. Watch out for tumultuous times for a brief period in October, when the Sun also moves into Virgo and meets up with Saturn. It might be a period of global conflicts as well as conflicts in your own home. The latter part of 2009 will prove to be a major improvement over the first part. With Saturn moving onto Virgo in September and Jupiter getting a breakthrough from May to July, we can expect big changes in the economic atmosphere. You will once again find yourself making plans for a brighter future. This will also be a period of relative stability; free from the endless changes you may have had to face in the early part of the year. Ketu, the South Node, moving into the dual sign of Gemini could also open up more than one opportunity for you. Saturn in Virgo could bring rewards for your discipline, and help you to be more methodical and organized reducing uncertainties. The mantra for a good 2009 for all of us is to go with the flow and embrace changes.
