Sunday will be my 47th birthday...
I was born December 7, 1961.
It wasnt just MY day though, because I was born on my father's 26th birthday. What a present huh??? Poor guy!!! Always got the same thing for his birthday every year after that... - ME! LOL!
From the moment I opened my eyes...and saw my Dad...he was my Hero!!! Throughout my whole life, he served as the greatest example of a man that God could have ever given me. Most people are taught love, compassion, selflessness, empathy, and all the "emotional" attributes normally instilled by their nurturing mothers... Not me. Mine was instilled in me by my Dad.
We shared our birthday together every single year for 44 years. I loved sharing mine with him...and he loved sharing his with me. It was most special.
It was a "routine" on our birthday for one or the other to race to the phone to be the first one to call the other to sing "Happy Birthday". As soon as one would hear the other start singing the birthday song, the other would join in and it would only change when we would say each other's names. (Sometimes I would get up at 5:00am to be the first one to call...and sometimes he would beat me to it! LOL!!! )
Then we would spend about 15-20 minutes telling each other dirty jokes!! Hahahahaha!
My Dad was not only my greatest Hero, but he was the funniest person I have ever known in my lifetime - even to this very day. And probably the funniest I will ever know.
He left me with so much. I know I picked him for my Dad before I ever entered this world.
He would scoop me up into his arms and hug me so tight I would literally get a head buzz from lack of oxygen!!! GOD those hugs were the best!!! And, with tears in his eyes, he would say, "Angie Baby...you cant know how much I love you!!! You just cant know!!!!" But...with all the love he showed me every day...how could I NOT know???
I used to tell him, "Daddy...I wished so bad that I could share you with every kid. IF I could share you with every kid...there would NEVER be a kid in this world that didn't know what it was like...to be loved to death!!!"
I couldnt share him with every kid...but I did share him with every kid I came in contact with... And he loved them and hugged them...just like he did me!!! And I could see in their eyes that they could feel the love he emitted!!! How awesome is that????
So...this is my birthday tribute to My Dad - My Hero!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!!! I LOVE YOU BIGGER THAN THE MOON AND ALL THE STARS IN THE HEAVENS!!!! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!! THANK YOU FOR BEING THE GREATEST EXAMPLE OF WHAT A MAN SHOULD BE...AND THANK YOU FOR BEING MY HERO!!!
