This is the speech I did infront of my mom's church last sunday. The reactions and the applause was just amazing and all the hands I shook and the thank you's was just truely amazing. I now want to be a advocate for the troops and do alot more for them. Its wonderful how God works in ways that suprise you. I am excited to see what happens in the near future. I have already gotten calls from people who want to help more.
Hi, I'm Sharon and I would like to share something that started out as a thought and a call to the church. I wrote a letter to the church in May asking everyone to write up some thank you cards and letter to Our Brave Troops and little did I know it was going to turn into something great and amazing. A week after Lisa passed out the letters to the sunday school classes that I recieved a call from Jane Lowrey/Unity Class wanting to know if we could send care packages. Well we did, we sent 6 care packages to 3 soldiers and they all recieved them with in a week... Here is a letter I would like to share with you all. Its from SSGT Arthur Felder who is stationed in Afghanistan. He was my first adopted US soldier and I now have 5 and a total of about 10 who I correspond with.
"OH MY GOD SHARON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I was there I would hug and kiss everyone. You just don't know what you have done for the morale of me and all my soldiers. We have been going through a real rough time and a week ago we had to watch as they put a couple of our friends in some bodybags. But the care packages that you have sent really put a smile on all the soldiers faces and gave them a piece of home. Some of them broke down and cried and some just sat on the desert floor and ate the goodies. We are all trying to send a picture to the local newspaper thanking you and the church personally. I don't know if it will happen but I want to personally say I thank God for you and all those who gave. I passed out the cards and letters to all the soldiers and it was kind of hard to watch some of them read the cards because with some of them, their own families don't even write them and it is hard for me to understand how can complete strangers care more about us than our families. How can I ever thank you, what can I say or do for you and the kind people of your church. Some of the soldiers and myself feel kind of guilty cause we really don't have much to give in return. But even as I am emailing you, my soldiers are constantly coming up with ideas of what we can do to show our gratitude. Thank you all, God bless you all.

I wrote him back and told him that he doesn't need to give us anything in return, that he is already giving us something that is far more important which is our freedom.
Whether you like the war or not we still need to support our soldiers. They need us more then anyone will ever know. I hear alot about what they have to do deal with and they are really sacrificing their lives and there time for us and our freedom. This is a passion of mine and I support our troops overseas and around the world. Remember you are supporting your own.
Thank You to all those who wrote thank you cards and letters and put them in the boxes. Remember there are boxes setup in the welcome center and by the office for the cards. I will pick them up every few weeks and mail them out.
