My Purpose
People hate because they can’t relate to that which is not
Theirs to understand or appreciate
As a result, they meander through life, full of strife, bitterness
And a lack of purpose
Purpose is that which wakes us up during the course of the night
Because something’s not right in our world
Purpose is that which drives us during the day, to say
That it’s not okay to accept things the way they are
Purpose is the very thing that brought us to the point that we’re at
Right now
Knowing that right now is not later, later is not yesterday, and today we can’t wait for That special thing to happen tomorrow
They say that today is the first day of the rest of our lives
But we’re consequently, consistently, continuously waiting
For purpose to find us
But purpose of purpose itself is that it will not find you,
Because something can’t find itself when it is not lost to begin with
Purpose is that which inevitably comes out even when we pout and shout
Purpose is that which defines us, refines us and brings us to the sublime
Existence of who we are and why we’re here
But what separates you and I is that your purpose isn’t mine and mine isn’t yours and
As a result, I can’t pick yours apart and try to use my definitions to define who you are
And who you should be.
My responsibility to my purpose is to fulfill that which is within me, to live free and to be all that I need to be for no one but me.
No matter what you hear, fear or even hold dear,
For me, my purpose is clear
