Okay, bit of history before I start this one. My 2nd husband raised my daughter from the time she was 4 until she was 14. He walked out for reasons really still known only to him. He had given me patty-cake answers but nothing concrete except to say that he didnt want to be a husband and father anymore. Let me say here that he did remarry 6 months after our divorce-a woman with 2 kids.
So, here we are, my daughter (now 17) and I. We are chatting today about the now ex-step dad and how he was talking about her with other people. Now, this might not have been a bad thing except that he hasn't talked TO her since Aug 2006, and here he is talking ABOUT her to the sister of one of her best friends. This child is in the same class as his new step daughter, or ex-step, as he and HER mother are now divorced as well, lol
But I digress, she is telling me all of this and asks me if she can leave a mesage for him. She knows that this may strike a match which wont be easy to put out and throwing caution to the fiercely blowing winds, she begins to type. She tells him that she doesnt mind him showing up at the graduation ceremony as it is a city wide celebration. She asks him to pass her by instead of using her day to strike the lost relationship a new set of blows. She goes on to tell him that she feels betrayed, and begs him not to do this same thing to 'his girls' (as he has captions the pic on his CT page).
She ends the letter with best wishes and signs it with her first name and a hyphenated version of my maiden name and her boyfriends last name, neither of which was she, is she or is she going to be carrying anytime soon. She stated to my quizzed look, that she wanted to press home the idea that he had his chance for her to carry HIS name, and in the 3 yrs we dated, nor the 7 yrs we were married, did he ever spend the $50 to get her name changed and have her adopted. To her, it was his loss. I have to agree.
I know, from watching my page daily who has viewed it. He is not one who ever has. Since that message came from my page, he will no doubt return the comment here. He may do as he has in the past-have his wife or now ex-wife, whatever, write for him. Thats fine. I need some comedy in my diet. I am anxious to see that comment, actually. Id rather read it here on CT than see it manifested. The last time my daughter 'spoke her mind' with regard to him and his behavior, I ended up with two flat tires. Now, I wont say he did that, but it did look to convenient.
My daughter is a mini me. She says what she feels and leaves those who listen to fend for themselves. She is loving, strong, passionate and fiercely loyal to herself and her beliefs. I am both blessed and tormented, lol.
