What are you waiting for?

Alright! I've been in Germany for 7 weeks today.... I just got off the phone with my mom... Her and my dad say it feels like it's been more than 3 months already.. And to me... It feels only like a month. lol First off..... I am continuing to find different toilet "flush" buttons and levers everywhere I go. There are A LOT of decisions when BUYING the buttons, according to Uwe. lol But not only are they "buttons" and not a "handle" connected to the toilet... These are usually buttons on the wall above the toilet. Like, at eye level. So, when you are in a dirty bathroom stall and want to KICK the handle because it just seems GROSS to touch it with your HANDS.... that's not really an option.. Unless you can kick above your head in a bathroom stall. lol And another thing.. The bathroom stall DOORS are LONGER than the ones you will find in a typical California bathroom stall. They usually extend all the way to the floor, and occasionally to about 5 inches above the floor. This makes it dangerous when BENDING DOWN to see if there are people in the stall... I know for a fact. Funny story. I was in the McDonald's bathroom and could not see if anyone was in the stall. I bend over to check, like I would in any other bathroom, just as I have done a million times before. "Ahhh. No one in here." Stand up... and WHACK! I hit my fucking head on the fucking sink counter. SON OF A BITCH. I had a bump on my head about 10 minutes later and a HORRIBLE fucking headache. Note to self: When bending over to check if bathroom stalls are empty, check how close you are to the damn counter first. Let's see... Being here 7 weeks now, I REALLY needed a fucking haircut. A little tricky when you don't speak German yet and I explained it to Uwe he was like "I hope they speak English." hahah. But NOT ONLY was THAT my "problem".... I haven't had my hair cut by anybody besides my mom... EVER. My mom was a Beautician for 10 years or so and still continued to do my hair (and the family's) after she switched careers. So, not only do I not speak the language, I'm a little fucking nervous to let ANYBODY cut my hair. Long story short, we found a place that had a woman who speaks German AND English. It was very comforting. And, my hair turned out good! I am very happy with the cut. I also bought some hair dye that is in a box. I'm NOT spending 100€ (Yes, that's EURO, not Dollar. lol) to have my hair dyed when I can do it myself for 10€. So, today... Uwe volunteered to dye my hair for me! Sweetness! Again, a little bit nervous because he is a Construction man but, it turned out fab! He did a good job! And now he is prancing around the house calling himself "The Best" and "Jack of All Trades." lol. Hmm.... Oh! Uwe's sister (one of many. lol) is trying to get me to join a Cheerleading team for the Bamberg Bears football team! Yep, FOOTBALL in Germany! woot! lol So, I might be a Cheerleader soon for a German football team. And they also do Tournaments, so, that will be fun! And, YES. I AM learning German. I do my best to learn and speak what I can. And I have found out that when I know the spelling of a word, I seem to remember it better and pronounce it better. The vowels in the German language are spoken very hard and it's important to pronounce them correctly or you sound like a turd when you're speaking. lol Anyways, I'm not going to make a list of all the words that I speak anymore. It's very easy to just look it up online. A website that I use often is this one. On another note... On September 27, Uwe and I are going to OKTOBERFEST!!!!!! Wooooooooooo! It is in Munich (Munchen). It is going to be soooo fucking fun! I am way excited! We are actually taking a BUS there (care of a company that works with Uwe's company) and there are free drinks and food and tv's and whatnot on the bus! ha! When we get there it will be before Oktoberfest actually starts, so Uwe wants to walk around Munich for a little while. Perfect for sight seeing! Yay! Oktoberfest starts at either 10 am or 11 am and goes until like Midnight or something... The bus will actually bring us home at 10 pm! How wonderful! But, Uwe and I might decide to stay the night in a hotel... Depending on how intoxicated we are, and the prices of the rooms, availabilty, etc. etc. Anyways, there will be LOTS of pictures and OMG! Way fun! Okay, I cannot think of anything else at this point worth saying, so, I'll just leave it at that.
[I posted this on my Myspace after about a week in Germany.. Now I shall put it on FuBar. It seemed appropriate. :)] Ah! My first blog in Germany! Wow. There's so much to write. Well, I am learning new things every day. It's really quite interesting. My first German word I learned was "Ausfahrt" AUSFAHRT- (in the German-English dictionary/thesaurus) leaving, departure; exit, way out; drive, excursion. ...sounds strikingly similar to ASSFART. So, driving home along the Autobahn on Sunday (which took 2.5 hours longer than it should have due to traffic and construction - 4.5 hours total), I saw the sign A LOT. Everytime I saw it I'd say "Assfart". haha. I'm a retard. I now know the correct way to say it. I also now know Einfahrt (enter). I see those signs a lot because there are a lot of parking garages here in the cities. Hm... Bamberg. I originally thought it was about 20 minutes away. But, nope. And especially not with how fast Uwe drives! lol ... It's really only about 10 minutes away. And very easy to get to, should I get a job on the Army base. I've eaten at McDonald's twice since being here now. Wow. I don't think I've eaten at McDonald's twice in a month in almost 2 years, and now I've eaten there twice in 4 days. lol ..... IRONICALLY, the food here is A LOT better! I swear on it! And the building itself is sooo much nicer! (Thought: I should take some pictures of it when I can. lol) Yesterday, I ate a DÖNER. My book says it is a type of kebab, but I think it's more like PitaPit in Chico. Very yummy and hard to eat the entire thing unless you're drunk! ha! OH! While using the bathroom in the airport I found out that they are A LOT cleaner than the restrooms back "home" in California. Although, a lot of the restrooms do not have seat covers here. lol. ... One thing different, there are TWO buttons to flush. At first, I just pressed one or the other. Whichever my little heart disered at the time. lol .......... Back at home, I ask Uwe (dumbfounded) "Why the hell are there TWO flush buttons on the toilet?" lol. ... Simple. One is "low-flow" for when you just potty in the toilet. The other is for when you fill it up with shit. hahahah. MAKES PERFECT SENSE! And I now think that bathrooms, world wide, are sexist. Just because SOME women wear skirts, doesn't mean we ALL do. Thus, we should change the pictures on the front doors. That is all. =) And another DUH! thing - Germany is VERY clean. They recycle EVERYTHING. USA could learn a thing or two from these people... lol So, I think my German consists of about 10 words now. Let's see what I can remember... Hallo - Hello. (that's an easy one) Ausfahrt - Exit. Einfahrt - Enter. Döner - PitaPit. lol Dankeschön - Thank You. Tschüs - Bye. Brost - Slang for "cheers" when drinking. Tollwut - Rabies (Don't ask how I learned that one. lol) Iche Liebe Dich - I love you. =)
