For once I have a real life issue I need help deciding on...

My son 17 yr old 6'4 borderline genius, black belt in karate...over all great kid...my only child...wants me to sign his waiver to enlist in the Marines. There is a Marine coming to my door at some point today to answer my questions and have me sign the waiver. I am just finding this out yesterday..I am not okay with it..his dad is. I want to be supportive...but do not want to lose him. Should I sign the waiver?
