Music I love

I like most types of music with the exception of Opera. For some reason I cannot get on with it at all, sounds like people trying to warble which is false and wrong. The main artist I like is Gary Numan. I have been a been a fan of his since he first started back in 1978. My brother being older than I was into punk music at the time and bought many singles. In 1978 he bought Tubeway Army's (Changed the name to Gary Numan for the release of 'cars') second single 'Bombers'. Being a ten year old boy at the time a song about war and bombers really appealed. Anyway seen him live at thirteen times and met him a few as well. I often just listen to artists of the late 70's early 80's. These include Depeche Mode, Human League, Devo, OMD, Kraftwerk, John Foxx, David Bowie, Ultravox, and Duran Duran. Since the music of Gary Numan has got darker over the past decade or so I have as found that I listen to bands such as Nine Inch Nails, Muse, Rammstein and Queens Of The Stone Age. If I'm in the mood the louder the better. I've heard some good music visiting people in CT. A lot of modern music is cool. I have been particularly listening to a new British band called Reverend and The Makers who look like they are going to be huge. They are from Sheffield and are a contemporary of The Arctic Monkeys. Their first single "Heavyweight Champion of the World" has only just been released over here. It is currently number 12 in our singles chart. I also enjoy listening to Kasabian, Franz Ferdinand, Maximo Park, LCD Soundsystem, Hard-Fi, Radio 4, the Faint and the Killers. Don't always listen to a lot of dance music. Do like the odd bit of Techno music. It just depends on where and whom I'm with a the time. Don't mind a bit of Moby, Basement Jaxx and I think Faithless are brilliant. What else, well it depends on my mood I could listen to Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Andy Williams, Abba, Hank Williams or Doris Day! I'll listen to just about anything really. Most of the time the music to me is more important than the way it sung or the lyrics. As long as it's got a good beat then I'm happy. I've only just started to go and see live music again after nearly ten years since my last gig. Saw 80's British artists Black and The Christians recently who were both excellent. I had seen both before, Black in 1988 and The Christians in 1994. This month I'm going to see two bands I have not seen before, Aussie band INXS and British band OMD. Should be good taking my oldest son with me for them. He's only recently started playing the guitar and his getting his first electric one on his birthday on the 16th of this month. These will be his first gigs and he's really looking forward to them.
