ArMy WiVeZ Are ToUgHeR's blog: "MRS. Army Wife 2 You!"

Today I went to Ladnstuhl Hospital in Germany. (They send all injured/casualties from Iraq here) Which so happens to be 20 minutes from me. A friend of mine needed me to drive there since she is 7 months pregnant and also had her 2 yr old son with her. Well I went to see a friend of hers who got hurt from a IED in Iraq. He lost half of his left face... His left eye is gone, nose is messed up and Jaw smashed... It was bandaged. He is only 21... I wanted to break down and cry but it would make matters worse. So we chatted and he tried smiling even though he could barely make any expression with the bandage over his left side of his face. He is truly lucky nonetheless to be alive. He was in Iraq for about 7 months now, he is also part of Ft Hood. 1st CAV divison. Luckily enough he was able to have someone visit him but as I walked down the spotless white hall I could see in some rooms those who are injured and half way across the world from their own families. Those of you who took the time to read this I thank you... Just needed to get some emotions off my chest for a bit since my own husband will be deploying for a 2nd tour to Iraq coming up... He seems like a great person and I am happy to become a friend with him. He is single but it would take a true woman to be with him and love him in a condition like that and I hope one day he will find someone who will love him for him... Adam you deserve that Purple Heart and much more for your sacrifice... This is Adam before the IED attack...

"The search for a missing Fort Hood boy has ended tragically. At about 10:30 a.m. Sunday, 2-year-old Isaiah Conway was found dead four miles from his home. The toddler went missing Friday evening. For most of the weekend, two divisions of soldiers searched an area creek where the boy was last seen. At the height of the search, more than 400 community emergency response personnel and 1,300 soldiers were involved. Isaiah Conway is the son of Specialist Zachary Conway and his wife Gina. Specialist Conway was serving in Iraq at the time of his son's disappearance. He's now home with his wife and family. Initial indications suggest Isaiah fell into Nolan Creek and died by accidental drowning. Killeen Fire Chief Jerry Gardner described the area where the boy's body was found as being thick with brush. Fort Hood was hit by heavy rains and strong storms on Friday. A normally dry creekbed measured 6 feet deep in some spots. And officials said the water rushed by at speeds of 40 mph Friday night. The water had receded by Sunday."
