I am sick of hearing from people that have not experienced having a child with ADHD mouthing off about how it's just an excuse for parents to drug their children and thus not have to parent. Having had two children with ADHD, I know that's bullshit. I don't want to have to parent less, I want my children to feel more normal and be able to fit in with their peers better. If they can't complete their school work because they can't keep their minds on it, that's a problem. Where in the hell do these people get off running someone down who wants to help their child. If there was another way to help them, don't you think I would or have tried it? My youngest has a much milder form and thus doesn't take his medication when he is out of school. His problems occur only in school and so he only takes it when he goes to school. Half the parents in his class have asked me if I can teach their kids the manners my son has so I must not be doing that bad a job of being a parent.
