The Vet

The Vet Vietnam Veteran stands on the corner, a sign in his hand, "will work for food." Empty bottles litter the ground around him, holding him down while he broods. His chest is adorned with medals of valor, he wears battle scarred jacket with pride. Yet there he stands lost in the squalor, amongst the filth and garbage he hides. He feeds at the soup kitchens on the street, moving from one shelter to another. Salvation of soul the price he must meet, to share this repast with miseries brother. What happened that brought him to this state, just a shadow of the man he used to be. Was it "the war" or was it a matter of fate, please tell me, it could have been me. Kevin F. Dustin

Pajama Party

Pajama Party Bravery born of false bravado, Soldiers patrol into the night. Through the jungle slash and burn, Searching for a hero’s fight. But black pajama’d evil demon, Cull their numbers one by one. Take from them their warriors pride, And make them pray this war be done. Young men led to battle weary, Warriors fighting without a purpose. Sent to die by politicians, Vilified by the populace. From the safety of home so far away, Their peers condemn this evil war. Hold innocent soldier to account, For atrocities committed on this shore. No one man can be held to blame, Fear has become this soldier’s master. Fear of an enemy that can’t be seen, This black pajama’d demon in alabaster. Kevin Dustin

Havock Wrought

Havoc Wrought Valiant Knights on steeds so strong, ride into battle armor shining. They fight while singing berserkers song, and watch with reverence carrion dining. Their swords drawn and sheathed in blood, Moonlight shines from steely blades. Battlefield littered with bodies in mud, died fighting a battle from which heroes are made. The minions of hell stand against onslaught, but these lost souls march on without fear. For they've once already stood and fought, against all odds for what is held dear. Lightning shatters summer night, and the thunder warns of doom to come. Winged birds wild have taken flight, to escape this war torn kingdom. Now look on the land this war was fought, and see the cost was far too dear. Land which lay barren after mayhems been wrought, A kingdom, which shall never recover, I fear.

Too Late

Too Late She walks alone amongst the crowds, afraid she might be seen. Dodging conversation made, while walking in her dream. * * * * * But someday soon she might awaken, to be taken by a stranger. She'll fall in love, sure to be stricken, for she hasn't learned the danger. * * * * * For her to have given all she has, when nothing is returned, are investments made which are too great, without profit to be earned. * * * * * So when she awakens from this dream, her spirit crushed and her heart broken, provide her with the comfort needed, thus says the stranger..."I have spoken." * * * * * I did not intend to cause this pain, tinkered without thinking, I stole her heart, than set it free, now in her pain I'm sinking. * * * * * Though I freed her from her solitude, I've condemned her to the gallows, for she can't survive without my love, how could I have been so shallow. * * * * * What must I do to set this right? What sacrifice shall I make? Is there anything that will make amends, to the love that I forsake? Or is it far too late? Kevin F. Dustin

The Pain

The Pain I shed a tear for that which was, and what shall never be. A dream struck down before the dawn, unfettered love be free. I walk my life on precipice edge, like tightrope walker without his net. Waiting for the fall to come, where life and love be met. This meeting with life's reality, shall tear me all asunder. Rip my heart out from my breast, how can love hurt, I wonder. But as in wounds, so heals my heart, and I shall move along dear. On down that lonely road of life, away from you I fear. Kevin F. Dustin

The Kiss

The Kiss Floating lost in cyber space I came across a kiss so sweet. Have yet to look upon her face but still I feel the heat. She brought me back to earth you see and gave me help when none was near to see the light inside of me, this kiss that I hold dear. She gave me peace, she gave me pleasure and brought my troubled mind to rest. This is the kiss I shall always treasure. The first, I must confess. Kevin F. Dustin

Stolen Moments

Stolen Moments It seems to me that it is true, our passion is a crime. The moments which I share with you are stolen out of time. The time it takes to hold you dear and tell you "I love you" is never quite enough I fear to pay the devil's due. So cradle me in your sweet arms and hold me to your breast. Deliver us from all that harms, protect us from the rest. Look to me for strength my love, I'll share with you the burden. Pray for succor from up above and bear with me the sin..... of these precious moments spent with you, which are stolen out of time. Kevin Dustin

Ravished

Ravished Wanton spirits of the night, insidious in their desire. Prey pon those who fear the light to burn them in lusts fire. A woman chosen to quench bloods thirst, the vampire approaches in his deadly stealth. Upon the victim vampire bursts, to suckle life’s blood from her vibrant wealth. But first he takes her in his arms, to satisfy his earthly lusts. He hypnotizes her with his Eire charms, to gain this innocents trust. She gives to him freely all her passion, loves him long into the night. He in turn holds back his hunger, to give to her lusts satisfaction right. When morning light falls over bed, we glimpse the woman with a smile on face. The vampire lies there drained and dead, a victim of the mortal passion, that he had to taste. Kevin F. Dustin

Nature Heals

Nature Heals I walk towards the sunset hoping for a better view I stroll through the park deeply lost in thought I sit among the tall trees wondering what to do Forever in this exquisite dream I'm caught Shining it's light to lead the way in my confusion The sun sinks lower till swallowed by the sea Illuminating the way like the lighthouse beacon The closer I get the deeper it sinks into me Watching the stars glitter through the branches Though colors stretch across the clouded sky Night sounds filter in and cause my mind to wander One thought then another ricocheting through my mind When nature has soothed my worries, little ones and big And questions all are answered to solutions I have sought With my spirit washed in nature's healing balm I go back home to live the dream I've bought Kevin F.
