INTERVIEW WITH GOD I dreamed I had an interview with God. “So you would like to interview me?” God asked. “If you have the time” I said. God smiled. “My time is eternity.” “What questions do you have in mind for me?” “What surprises you most about humankind?” God answered... “That they get bored with childhood, they rush to grow up, and then long to be children again.” “That they lose their health to make money... and then lose their money to restore their health.” “That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live in neither the present nor the future.” "That they live as if they will never die, and die as though they had never lived.” God’s hand took mine and we were silent for a while. And then I asked... “As a parent, what are some of life’s lessons you want your children to learn?” “To learn they cannot make anyone love them. All they can do is let themselves be loved.” “To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others.” “To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.” “To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in those they love, and it can take many years to heal them.” “To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who needs the least.” “To learn that there are people who love them dearly, but simply have not yet learned how to express or show their feelings.” “To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it differently.” “To learn that it is not enough that they forgive one another, but they must also forgive themselves.” "Thank you for your time," I said humbly. I Just Don't Know Why I stand here alone surrounded in darkness,
confused and disoriented unsure of which way to turn.
I don't know why.
Left deserted, hollow, and broken
unsure of why my eyes have filled with tears.
I don't know why.
I do know it means something.
I just don't know what.
I see a little book here at my feet.
It is familiar but foreign just the same.
I just don't know why.
These words I have heard before.
I read the pages and I see me.
I just don't know why.
As I read, a movie appears before my eyes,
I have the leading role.
I just don't know why.
I cannot help but to be mesmerized unable to turn away.
I just don't know why.
These are my words.
I can hear myself saying them
and it's I that I see struggling for air.
I just don't know why.
One simply little breath I see myself pray
for there in the grip of the beast I lay.
I just don't know why.
That's him the beast.
He's what has consumed my sleepless nights
and tormented my days.
I just don't know why.
He is real, he does exist,
and there I am.
That toy.
The one he's kicking with his feet.
I just don't know why.
Why are my eyes flowing with tears?
Why is there blood seeping from my body to the floor?
Why am I speaking those words to the beast?
Why?
I don't understand.
I just don't know why.
Why didn't I run?
Why did I stay?
Why by his side do I lay?
I don't know why.
The movie is finished now
and the darkness has returned again.
I just don't know why.
I don't like this darkness.
It's scaring me.
I'm really becoming frightened.
I just don't know why..
Colder and colder the air is turning.
It's getting so cold.
I don't know why.
I don't feel very well.
I think the coldness is hurting me.
I just don't know why.
I don't like the coldness here.
I just don't know why.
Did I stay?
I must have stayed there with the beast,
right at his side until the end!
This I do know,
I just don't know why.
It's all dark again and it's cold.
Yes, I must of stayed.
I just don't know why.
It is all clear to me now.
I must have died on that day.
I just don't know why.
