What Can I say;

Im many different things to different people. I grew up in a small Midwestern Farm Town in the 70's. Its there I first aquired my love of American History. Many people try to say that Im this or that; they have this narrow preconcieved Idea of who I am, but that only tells me that they dont really know me (it annoys the hell outa me too.) Yet the one, accurate thing that everyone knows me by, is my love of History. Well that and my screwball sense of humor. People are really surprised when I tell them how really painfully shy I am. Im an extroverted Introvert; If that makes any sense. Outside of work, and away from the crowd; when people spend time with me one on one, I become quiet, and dont say too much; the shyness takes over, and I tend to keep my thoughts to myself. Im also very passionate about the things and people I care about.

I Guess in the end the best way to understand just what Im about, and who I am is By reading everything that Ive ever written, and Listen to the Music that I love. Dont listen to those who say they know me...they dont- they know of me and might be aquaintences...as there is no one in my life, at present, whose been around me long enough, to know me and what Im all about.
I'll be the first to admitt that Im not an easy person to get to know.

Interests

I like to write and Im always chasing inspiration with a Bloody Stick! Usually with mixed results, and If you stick around long enough you might find that Im a helpless romantic! Im also an amature American Historian (mid Victorian to present day)and Im a former Civil War Reenactor; CSA ALL THE WAY! I love Bicycle riding Good Comedy, which is becoming increasingly rare today; Zany screwball stuff...BUGS BUNNY RULES and I love a Good Humorist Like Will Rogers or Jerry Clower, even Mark Russell. I love photography and do quite well with some very simple equipment. I love TRAINS! Especailly American Steam engines. At the age of 15 I got to ride in the cab of a large N&W engine (I dont quite remember but I think it was a 4-6-0) It was pulling an excursion out of Bristol Tn into Benham Va 20 miles away, and My uncle knew the owner. They let me stoke the fire and ring the bell. Its a rare treat that few of my generation will ever get to do. There is 2 generations of Rail Road Workers in my family on the old GTWRR here in Michigan.
Music
Where Do I Begin!!
Its alot shorter to list what I Dont Like...
Meaning my musical taste is very Eclectic.
I like and will listen to everything from:
Big Band Jazz... Blue Grass...Classical...Country...Folk Music...Rockabilly...Pop...Rock...Hard Rock...and Rap.
The only music I dont like is Opera...Death metal or Marylin Manson kind of stuff.
Movies
Im picky when it comes to the movies that Ill watch. Its got to grab me either in its subject matter or trailer and shove me against the wall and hold me there; Yet I do have a rather LARGE library of films.

Idols
Who I'd like to meet:

Theodore Roosevelt;
He truely was a force of nature. He was a published author at 18, Married at 22, An acclaimed historian and New York State Assemblyman at 23, A father and Widower at 25, a ranchman at 26, A candidate for Mayor of New York City at 27, Married again at 28, A civil service commissioner of the United States at 30, By which time he was producing many other books and children, while cultivating every scientist, politician, artist, and intellectual of repute in Washington. He then became Police Commissioner of New York City at 36, Assistant Sec of the Navy at 38, Col of the 1st Vol. Cav, the "rough riders," at 39, Gov of New York State by the time he was 40, and then Vice President and finally President where he became the first president to win the Noble Peace Prize, built the Panama Canal, the first president to Own and drive a car, first president to fly in a plane, the first sitting president to visit a foriegn country. His administration still has the best conservation record and did more to protect and preserve vast tracts of land for future generations than any other presidency to date. After the White house he went on a safari that provided the majority of animals still used by the Smithonian's Museum of Natural History today, and he explored an unknown tributary of the Amazon that bears his name today. Has there ever been any American who has done so much with their life? I think Not!

I would also like to meet Jesus Christ;
just see what he looked like, to hear his voice, to discover his personality and know first hand what he really said or did not say...

Abraham Lincoln
is another of Histories Mysteries. He was so underestimated by his generation, that they did not realize what they had in their midst untill he was gone. In fact the Mantra of his own party, in the 1864 election was "ANYBODY BUT LINCOLN!" they were desperate to find a republican who they would and could nominate to take his place; instead of allowing him a second term, but thankfully they could not find anyone willing to oppose Abe for the Republican Nomination during the Civil War, and they finally realized, by the time of the Republican Convention, that Abe was the best man after all. Yet today; because he has been placed on such a pedestal, no one knows what his voice sounded like, we have a vauge impression of his personality and the chronic depression he suffered from. To hear his voice and get a good look at his face just to hear him tell one of his stories that is what I desire.
