Wyokid's blog: "Maybe soon !"

I'm In the middle of Wyoming's Red Desert. The sun is beating down on my shoulders as I hike over another sandy filled hill covered with cactus and wildflowers. I'm listening to the sound of peaceful quietness as all the worries leave my mind. As I pass a group of cedars a jack rabbit jumps out on the run. I don't know who's more startled, the rabbit or myself ! I continue my walk...  Off in the distance I can see a herd of Antolope grazing on the tall sage like they have not a worry in the world.  I pass over another hill and see my first hint of why I came on this trip. There on the desert floor I see chips scattered about in all directions. Flakes of chert and jasper left behind from an earlier day. My gaze grows stronger. My pace slows to a crawl. I move my way across a dried up creek bed still following the trail of multicolored chips. As I walk, the trail of chips get smaller and smaller until there are no more. As my disappointment weighs I look up and to my surprise see a lone Wild stallion starring back at me. My disappointment changes to awe as quick as you could blink your eyes. After what seems like hours, he looks away and is gone in seconds. I look back down and continue my search. After just two steps I suck in my breath. Down on the ground half covered in sand is a piece of rock that looks chipped away to a point. I bend down to pick it up, brush off the sand, and as I look into my hand see the perfect arrowhead... As I smile all I can think about is starting tomorrow's search.
