Hickman **** The Beast’s Soul Tenderness and gentleness Belie the fearful face; The being he hid deep within She chose for her life-time mate. **** Once Upon a Time The maiden And the beast Did love Oh, once upon a time. Her heart, His love, Entwined, forever And all time. “Your in my heart,” She said to him. “My soul is yours to take. The breath you breathe Is one with mine, Forever are we linked.” “Forever?” Whispered back at her From the beast below. “Forever!” Promised The maid above, “For our love, It does but grow.” “Love?” He queried, “What is that? Is it food Or drink?” “No!” She said, Her smile quite wide, As his questions Made her think. A momentary pause She took, And then, She continued to speak. “Love is what You gave to me When you saved me From the brink. “Your gentle caring And tenderness Is balm Unto my soul. “My heart is full Of wondrous love The treasure Of you to hold.” “Treasure, blessings, What are these?” The beast He did reply. “I see no hope For you or me Under the clear Blue sky. “Not up above Or down below Our love Is doomed to die.” She cried to him. “Oh! How wrong you are! The blessings We do have! “Our love is The most precious thing One can ever Hope to have!” Her words, so gentle Touched his heart, His smile caressed her soul. He opened up his arms to her, And found himself grow whole. “Our love, it’s true,” He whispered to her, As his heart, it opened wide, “Has drawn us To each other’s lives To share them side by side.” A smile that came From deep inside, Lit up the maiden’s face. Her eyes, they glowed, With inner love As she held Her life-time mate. “Open your arms, my love,” She said to him. “The blessings, they will come. The path, your soul will find, But only when your open heart Allows the light of love to shine.” “Yes, I hear the music now,” The beast, he whispered low. “With in your words The truth does ring – Love does fill up my soul.” The beast, he gave his heart in whole Unto the loving maid, To hold with in her tiny hands Forever, that special day. And now the story Has grown old … Of how the beast did love; The tiny maiden from up above … Forever are they forged in love. I know it’s true, This story I’ve told … Of her heart And of his soul; Of the maiden’s love For her beast so bold. ‘Cause I’m the beast Who received the gift From the tiny maid, Which healed the rift That tore so at my soul. By her love … So sweetly given, The maiden to her beast Has opened up The gates of heaven. P.A. Hickman **** The Rose Gentle, soft, delicate, The rose you gave to me Upon the anniversary Of one year of loving thee. It was a special memory, Of mother loved so dear That because of the love You hold for me, Your heart bade you to share. Though an imitation Of the real roses You have seen, Its beauty Is not diminished In the love You share with me. And when life pulls us asunder And different paths we tread, I take the rose you gave me And hold it close to my heart instead. For in love you gave it, And in love, I hold it dear, As the special symbol Of the love We two do share. P. A. Hickman **** Eternity and all Time Oh, my soul It cried out for you. The gentle caress Of thy tiny hand Was my heart’s only desire. Yet, I hesitated, Knowing to be with you again Would be bitter-sweet. Knowing that to hope Was an impossible dream. Your world and mine, Two different universes, That momentarily collided, Could never be. Yet, I could not let you go – Once More your beauty, I must behold. So upward I climbed Towards the light That radiated From you soul. The darkness cloaked me, In anonymity, Hiding me from harmful eyes. Granting me safe passage Unto thy home, Where in silence I placed the gift That I prayed Would speak to your heart, As your eyes Had spoken to mine. Then, what I dared not To hope – materialized. You were there. The joy that radiated From thy eyes Granted me a vision Into you soul, And I knew, That you were mine, For eternity And all time. P. A. Hickman **** Gem of Old In a deep and darkened place My soul I almost lost, Yet, came an angel from above, To save me from the cost Of loosing my most inner self To my evil side; A threat to steal my heart away, My love forever to hide. Within her eyes A man I be, Her heart is mine to hold, An thanks to her most gentle love I’ve learned how to grow whole. The joy she brings Unto my life, Is a precious gem of old, That many man from the world above, Search for, yet never hold. From the angel up above, This precious gift did come. Her heart’s light warm, Is mine to hold, Given to me in love. P. A. Hickman **** Walk Slowly, Love It mayhap be, perchance, That thou will walk slowly, Love – Thy pace, yet more pondering Than that of the lowly snail, Giving unto me The space of time, My darling – To mach my gate To thine. And hope a-new, Will then be born Within my bleeding heart, That somewhere thou await for me, And love’s promise a-new will start. Walk slowly, Beloved – Thy print set more firmly In the shifting Sands of time, That my soul in search of you, Can follow and can find. And I, My fate, Will not forget, T’was I who lagged behind. P. A. Hickman **** Nevermore Nevermore, my love, Shall thy sweet voice Call to me From out the darkness Of the moonless night, Easing away the shadows Of unmentionable fears And ov’rflowing my heart. Nevermore, my darling, Shall thy gentle gaze Caress my aching brow, Taking my cares And making things Alright, somehow. Nevermore, my soul, Shall thy comforting arms Encircle me with love, Thy essence, warm, Keeping me from harm. Nevermore… My love… Nevermore. P. A. Hickman
