The "Gothic" type individual, in the classic sense,
has been around for hundreds of years,
in all cultures and in all forms of classic arts.
This current age describes the "Goth"
in the context of a "sub-culture".
But then, society tends to do this to
anyone who is "just outside the lines" of the
poster child image it desires to present of itself.
Since you label us "Goths/Gothic",
I'll stick with that term as we go along

IS THIS THE IMAGE YOU HAVE OF A "GOTH"?
PLEASE, never define a persons heart, love, value, religious theology,
or their ability to be compassionate, kind, or decent by the color
of their clothing or their choice of adornment.
A GOTH or a GOTHIC can be anything-anyone, or, the last
person on earth you ever dreamed was "GOTHic".
Goth/Gothic denotes an expression of the person, one who is more
comfortable than the average person,
in externalizing their feelings and honest inner self.<

br />NOW, I CAN ONLY speak of this based on myself, and knowing myself,
what I think I see in others.
ALL people are unique unto their own selves, just as you are.
WE all are made up of love, hurt, joy, sadness, hopes, fears, dreams,
things failed -or- people who failed us, or we failed, and all
this forms the most INTRICATE of woven tapestries
that forms our lives.

ARE WE REAL, ONE PONDERS; OF COURSE WE ARE - Just as in any "expression" of the person, there are people who are into this/that for the social rebel value, curious, or whatever. Look at all the hippes from the 60's - for some it mellowed and they stayed with the lifestyle but with maturity and grace and sense, while many were a flash in the pan with it. It's not about a Genre or Sub-Culture, it's about who and how people are. Those who are in it as a form of escapisim or fad, don't last. Or, they move on or outgrow it. This is normal, this is a part of youth, and a part of "people" going back GENERATIONS. Us "older" folk are past that part and are not so flashy -so you won't notice us that much. We don't try to shove it down your throat-this was an INTELLIGENT decision for us. Many start out as the extreme-but the sentiment is right. It just needed the fine engraving that life and time will mold it to be -basically a non-invasive person. ll have a little moment of "pause" with anyone who,we percieve as being anti-social or aggresive. But give it a chance-say HI, open a door, say thank you, say "how ya' doing?" and 90% of the time, you'll find a truly decent human being - who just does not look like the crowd you hang with. Simple, huh? YES, some folks DO use it to be the things you are afraid about. But so do the three-peice suits. So do a lot of Christians, teachers, cops, clergy, the list goes on. They just hide beneath the veneer of looking "Bob down the street-ish".

OKAY, I'll admit that when I first started
to go ahead and be myself with this, all the people who knew
me as the "guy at Church who makes free custom Rosaries..
..takes Communion to the nursing homes for the Priest once a week..
..gives out medals of the Blessed Virgin Mary..
.etc...etc",
kind of took a step back-and timidly asked me if I'd changed.
(even though I'm still the goofing/joking around type I always am)
Thank our Lord that they did ask because they now
are not bothered by the dark clothes, the big ring..
.. and have fun with me again-BUT-most of all,
ONE MORE MYTH HAS BEEN SHOT TO "HELL".
C'mon folks-
read the papers, watch the news, a Satanist is no more defined
by what you have as a "cliche" vision of one, than is anyone else.
Satanists are defined by beliefs and are
as multi-faceted in their theology as much
as the countless #'s of Christian religions there are in the world.
Most serious satanists or multi-generational covens/sects/etc..
..would look to you like the cover of a Norman Rockwell print.
I thought we got our "poop in a group" with this whole thing once
the Salem witch trials were over and denounced, but
it seems, people still.....well, lets just say,
the tabloid papers would have been truly best sellers back then, as sadly,
they still are today.
Our good Father God gave you better discernment than this...
c'mon, use it well.
