A tribute to my oldest son who passed away on November 13, 2018. He was only 25 years old.

Was it by Fate or Chance....Last Call for Millerville 17?

Brady Pitts you was a young man who offered much to this community. You was an excellent student who loved to play the trumpet in the Clay County Panther Band. You kept a very high GPA and was liked by most everyone. At the age of 16 you saw the need to establish an awareness for Autism in Clay County. So you found out what needed to be done to establish what was to become The Autism Awareness League of Clay County. This community service brought recognition for you in the form of several local newspaper and magazine articles. The then Governor of Alabama, Bob Riley, also presented an award letter of recognition to you. You was only 16 but yet was already outshining most people twice your age.
You joined the Millerville Volunteer Fire Department as a junior member and quickly won admiration in the community. You was never selfish nor did you ever consider the dangers when you thought someone was in danger as you would enter a burning building to assist any member of Millerville FD or and department Millerville was called upon to help. You was the bunt of several jokes from times you backed into the bay doors. But regardless of anything...you was always there to jump in a truck and head to the scene. The first call number anyone remembered you being issued was Millerville 17.
You was still not thru giving to people in need or to the communities you lived in though. Looking thru the things you had stored one can find many things that showed how you loved and cared. Many letters of recognition but more just foot notes. Many things that your friends recall of you and how you helped others where never recognized until people started talking about what you did for them. You helped with out asking anything much in return. Mostly you just wanted others to help someone else.
The day you was laid to rest, Millerville Volunteer Fire Department asked for the ultimate tribute to a fallen member...The Last Call. Unknown to all of us there your number had been assigned to someone who was dear and special to me also. It touched her heart in more ways than one, for she has been thru so much in her short 17 years.
Allyssa Gentry I did not know your call number was Millerville 17 as was Brady when he first joined. You both are a like but different. You both had hard lives in your early and mid teens. I never thought he listened to any thing I said...just like I think you never listen. He learned to love and forgive, to turn the bad into good but sadly he was to much like his old stubborn dad...as he and I never made the time to sit and work out our differences.
Now Allyssa I ask you this, is it going to be fate that brought you and him together or is it just chance?
