hey look now, little lamb,
something stops you where you stand,
frozen in the forests wild,
lost and alone, you poor wild child,
something stirs in the bushes and trees,
stop and see what everyone sees,
the flowers, scented, and leaves so green,
but what is it that stirs, silent, unseen?
something in the air triggers your stance,
as you look about wildly, here and there a glance,
hey look now, little lamb,
you have done what so few can,
what dangerous woods have you survived?
come out not stronger, not better, but alive,
now all about you those woods are still,
as if that something is ready to kill,
little lamb, hey now, what do you hear?
what comes closer, dangerously near?
stop, listen, the wind doesn't blow,
where will you run to, where can you go?
the shadows have life that you've never seen,
and though your senses are sharp and keen,
this is a time when you can't run away,
everything that's coming is coming this way,
hey look now, little lamb, can you see this paradise land?
it's all around you, blooming for you, right where you stand,
and something is triggering those unbidden tears,
calling out all of those civilized fears,
hey little lamb, look, see who you once were,
no child of the hills and meadows, but her,
strong, vibrant, and forever with a smile,
you were her once, for just a little while,
sweet lost lamb, home calls you from this place,
back to a world where you'll be just another face,
the want of it, the feel of it, just making you remember,
that whole life, lost, dead forever,
just memories, lambkin, let them tread on by,
let the past, like your old self, just flicker and die,
hey look now, little lamb, you are someone entirely new,
and guess what, my sweet one, there's not a thing wrong with you!
embrace your paradise, and in it all of your dreams,
burst through to the new light, and rip open the seams,
the dream time is gone and the rememberings are done,
be lost, be lamblike, be you, sweet one...
